Per usual not gonna get deep into the weeds will let you all dig into the individual player stuff but here are my 2025 teams to watch in this area (with championships in St. Joseph):
Class 6: Always a gauntlet in KC metro this was a rare year none made the Championship game look for that to change thanks to the rapid emergence of LEE'S SUMMIT and a very promising year for likely top of the heap BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH who should benefit from that shocking loss to one of my 2024 teams to watch Liberty. On the "darkhorse" front watch PARK HILL. They return a lot on offense plus their top DL who really showed out this season.
Class 5: Wash, rinse, repeat. Two of my 2024 teams to watch collided in their district title game and both should be right back in the mix especially now defending champ PLATTE COUNTY and ST. PIUS X. The Pirates return pretty much their entire electric offense but do incur defensive losses so they could be a bit more of a "shootout" team but my God the athletes they have so this could be, as advertised, Kearney 2003 part deux. Pius loses a lot around their stellar QB (these two may have the top ones in all MO in 2025) but are very deep and well coached they will figure it out.
Class 4: More of the same here. KEARNEY loses two all time greats in Grace and Noland but lots of other pieces return and this is perhaps the best weight training program in the area (a mouth full) they will benefit hugely from that narrow loss to all star Lutheran North and should be primed for another major, major title run. If you are looking for a nice darkhorse here keep your eyes on steadily improving SAVANNAH. With Pius going non-league in FB the Savages should easily win the MEC and could again be a physical presence come district playoff time (this assumes they stay C4 - were they to move down look out C3).
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. So long to another great season on to the next. One guarantee is with the title games moving to Spratt if any of these Northland schools in particular make it there the atmosphere will be way beyond Columbia...........................
