I actually think the biggest thing was class 5 evening with the other classes it brought about 15 teams up from last yearThe major factors are schools opting out and more schools going 8 man. I don't think the championship factor had much, if anything, to do with the new changes more than these two factors. It is nice to see some byes and opportunities to avoid most of the games that are 60-0 in that first week of playoffs. Probably be back by next fall.

It isn't a new format. It is just a change in how they assign teams to classes. Instead of putting 64 in each class, they are now spreading them equally between classes 2-5.Where did you see the new playoff format?
