has passed away. Haven't heard any details on the cause yet. He pitched on the P.B. Legion team when I was on that team 'watching' some really good players play the game.

How old was he ? I would think that he was still a relatively young man.

I looked it up... he was 69 years old. The article that I read stated that the Royals traded him to the Cardinals for Al Hrabosky. I had no idea that it had been that long ago... time flies !

I knew he was about my age and I'll be 69 the end of this month. He was from the big city of Gideon, Mo. Dude could throw a baseball like no one I had ever seen back then. No one on our team wanted to warm up with him in practice, he didn't know how throw it easy. Played RF when he wasn't pitching, threw right and batted left, like me, well only batting part.
My wife saw on Facebook that he had some kind of serious surgery and told someone he might not survive it. He made it through the surgery and was in recovery when he died. Too bad he is most remembered for the HR he gave up to Reggie Jackson in the playoffs.
