Joplin 35 - Webb 28 (FINAL)

Not by this much. Webb killed themselves with turnovers. I believe only one was caused by Joplin, the rest by the qb who I thought they would have him more prepared than this.

First of all great atmosphere and one of if not the biggest crowd I’ve seen for a Webb City game. Maybe 8000. Sorry that it took such awful circumstances for it to occur but a Saturday night game in Webb City was a different atmosphere.

Webb City really has a lot of work to clean things up on offense. You do not go -4 in turnover margin a beat a good team. Besides losing 4 fumbles and a pick 6 there were at least 3-4 other fumbles that WC didn’t lose. Most discouraging was that I don’t know that any of the lost fumbles were really forced.

Westmoreland was a difference maker. Right before his pick six he made a TD saving tackle or its 14-14 in the 2nd quarter. Offensively Joplin did a good job of protecting QB and not beating themselves. Last but not least in the 4th quarter when WC came roaring back Joplin did not fold.

WC did rally big time late so that is very encouraging. There is still room for a lot of improvement so could be a much better team in a few weeks. Both teams probably need to improve ( Joplin D-line and WC ball control) if they want to beat Carthage but great effort by Joplin tonight and hats off to them.

What does BP stand for? I’d take some guesses but I’d rather not have to register another account. Webb City has nobody to blame but themselves for this one. You can’t put the ball on the ground that many times and expect to beat anyone, let alone a class 6 school with quite possibly the best duo of talent at WR/S and RB/LB in the state of Missouri. Let’s not forget though that 3 of those 5 turnovers were completely unforced and simply dropped by Webb players. 4 of the 5 turnovers were converted for points including the pick 6 by the best player on the field HANDS DOWN. I urge you to take a look at the statistics outside of the turnovers. Webb city dominated time of possession by nearly double. When your given the ball on the plus side of the 50 you should always convert for points and Joplin did that. Hats off to them for not only capitalizing on Webb errors, but also for their guts and resolve after the events of Wednesday evening. Webb was in no way smacked around though and as far as delusion, you my friend are the pot speaking of the kettle.

BP is clearly trolling (the Ladue reference was too ambitious of a hook, "bro") but I don't think saying Webb is the better team is "delusional." What no one is talking about is Webb started its 3rd string QB. What you saw was a Webb team making a LOT of week one errors in week two with a kid who was not ready for that type of atmosphere. I just think the analogy is a bad one. Joplin "took its foot off the gas"? They never had to start the car because Webb took off in reverse!

Slow down - I get it - injuries are part of football, and of the two teams, Webb's QB injuries can't even be compared to the loss Joplin suffered. But it's one thing if a stout Joplin defense physically hammers your backs and they consequently put the ball on the turf. That's not what happened (exception of the pick 6 - that was great defense and run after the catch). Webb just literally dropped the ball half a dozen times without provocation. At least three were simple Center -> QB exchanges. (Credit to Webb's QB, he eventually calmed down and made some great passes.)

On 9/7, Joplin was the better team and deserved the win. Webb had no business even being in that game after the first half. But if you think Joplin wins that game every week for 13 weeks if they kept playing, it is not "hitch-n-go" who is delusional.

Joplin then goes 3 and out ...Webb marches down the field again and then throws a 85 yd pick 6 . That was the changing point . 4 out of 5 of Webb turnovers were bacically unforced ...what made it worse was all of them were inside their own 20 with the exception of the pick 6 . Hell ...one of the turnovers was a pitch what hit the rb right in the hands and he somehow didn't catch it . Joplin played better than Webb and they won. That's the skinny of it . I don't think the better football team won but I know the team that played cleaner won . I was proud of how Webb contained Davis (except one run) . That kid is a stud

Eventually people will learn, turnovers are not forced against Webb. Only Webb has the power to force them against themselves.

I talked to a couple friends yesterday who were at the game. I watched it but wasn't there. One described it as an a**kicking. The other couldn't get over the fact that "the refs handed the game to Joplin".

From what I saw Joplin opened the game strong and cashed in on Webb's offensive mistakes. Joplin didn't sustain many long drives the rest of the game but they didn't need to. Webb's typical offense just wasn't rolling other than that one long drive but their defense I thought was impressive especially in the second half when they really sucked the life out of Joplin's offense - who admittedly probably had let off the gas being up by 4 scores.

It was an entertaining game. I can't recall ever seeing so much of the scoring resulting from turnovers. In talking to some of my Webb friends it kind of reminds me of the loss at CJ where they kept insisting the Webb City beat Webb City - giving little credit to CJ.

Fortunate but up 35-7 LOL. The delusion is serious. And I have to SEE Joplin lose to Carthage cant just assume that. I SAW Joplin punch Webb around IN WEBB CITY. Im speaking in fact you’re assuming.
Nothing delusional about a team that competes year in and year out. That is when you have a program like Webb's. If you do not understand the position the Webb players were in, you have not been around football very long. Very easy to see how they were not into mentally (thus all the TO), but re grouped to make a game of it like great teams do after being down. Why all the need for bashing. I am pretty sure they will be just fine.

When its all said and done, Webb is the #1 team right now in Class 4. Ladue? When the smoke clears, no St. Louis team will be ranked top 6 in Class 4 this year--back to normal.

The 13-0 "score" was a weather induced FORFEIT. Ladue prolly wins that one by a turbo on a nice evening...........

After the Joplin game during his interview Coach Roderique said “I think we have a very good football team”.... to anyone who knows the man that speaks volumns

Webb fumbles/throws an Pick 6 = Shot OURSELVES in the foot, unforced, webbs fault, we were on a long drive blahblahblah

"They were not into it mentally"

The Ladue/Ritenour game was suspended 5 minutes into the first quarter because of a big storm and Ritenour declined to play the next day so Ladue was awarded the 13-0 win

Ladue is still ranked #1 in Class 4 but nice try.

There will not be a St. Louis team in the final this year. Nice try though.

I would say both. As a team, its not a normal night of football. Joplin has all the emotions. Webb noJust the human part of the game.

Is that all classes? Because I am pretty sure LN or CR will make it to the finals in Class 2.

The first 3 were forced. On the first one, the LB blitzed through the middle and knocked it out of the QB's hands and fell on the ball. I believe the second was the pick 6. The 3rd was an unblocked DE disrupting a pitch. It looked like the next 2 turnovers were unforced. Webb also had at least 3 other fumbles that they were able to recover. 2 of those were forced.
Joplin pulled Westmoreland from defense when they went up 35-7, but put him back in went the game got close. Joplin did a horrible job on clock management. They snapped the ball with 25 seconds on the clock I don't know how many times.
I think both teams will go deep in the playoffs. I think Webb has a great chance at winning state. Unfortunately, I think Joplin will make it to semi-pro CBC team again and lose by a bunch. I hope they both do well.

See above. Class 4.

The last game I saw a team getting smacked in was last year when CBC traveled to southwest Missouri.

cbc was basically a college team playing in class 6 Missouri. the disparity was ridiculous.

I dont even think its going on a limb to say they were a top 3 team the state has ever seen, maybe higher.

None of their games were even competitive, not a single scare all season.

Only game lost was to St. John's the #4 team in the country and CBC finished #11 on Maxpreps. The score was 49-59, the most points St. Johns gave up all season.

That State Game vs Rockhurst was over in the first Quarter. CBC scored 3 TDs within like the first 10 plays.
