Joplin 35 - Webb 28 (FINAL)

Bro you’re 21 years old. There’s no “BP” joke you could muster up that would be funny.

Webb runs the ball 95% of the time so they’re gonna dominate time of possession. You’re making a gang of excuses.

All of the turnovers were do to 1. Joplin taking the ball away 2. Webb sucking. No legit excuse.

Also Joplin doesnt have the best anything Duo at anything. They are going to get smacked just like last year by whoever comes out of St. Louis.

You’re emotional right now but the fact of the matter is the score was 35-7 AT HOME when Joplin took its foot off the gas.

If this was Madden the Sticks would have to be passes.

Delusion at its peak in this post!
When you reach the legal drinking age I’d love to have a craft beer with you at your local hipster vape lounge and show you what it means to be “smacked around”.

I don’t recall making any excuses at all. But just to be clear, Webb did not deserve to win the game because they turned the ball over 5 times. Joplin capitalized on those turnovers and deserved to win the game. Where is there an excuse in that? And what are you, 18 maybe 19 years old? Making video game references and calling people bro? You probably have your ears pierced and where the same jeans as your sister too don’t you?

Got me! And bro dont attack my metrosexuality I like the way my skinny jeans fit.

I didn’t agree with the call and I’ve been mildly rooting for Joplin. Seemed odd the official furthest from the play made the call

Its was the right call from where I sat. DB made contact enough for Glades to go down before the ball got there. Joplin had a penalty on the very next play and gave back 5 yards which made it 4th and 7 instead of 4 and 2.

BP is clearly trolling (the Ladue reference was too ambitious of a hook, "bro") but I don't think saying Webb is the better team is "delusional." What no one is talking about is Webb started its 3rd string QB. What you saw was a Webb team making a LOT of week one errors in week two with a kid who was not ready for that type of atmosphere. I just think the analogy is a bad one. Joplin "took its foot off the gas"? They never had to start the car because Webb took off in reverse!

Slow down - I get it - injuries are part of football, and of the two teams, Webb's QB injuries can't even be compared to the loss Joplin suffered. But it's one thing if a stout Joplin defense physically hammers your backs and they consequently put the ball on the turf. That's not what happened (exception of the pick 6 - that was great defense and run after the catch). Webb just literally dropped the ball half a dozen times without provocation. At least three were simple Center -> QB exchanges. (Credit to Webb's QB, he eventually calmed down and made some great passes.)

On 9/7, Joplin was the better team and deserved the win. Webb had no business even being in that game after the first half. But if you think Joplin wins that game every week for 13 weeks if they kept playing, it is not "hitch-n-go" who is delusional.

Webb wouldn't typically lose to that team . Last night wasn't a typical game . Joplin really only had 1 drive all game where they had to earn their points. (The opening drive) and Westmorland was huge in that drive catching 4 3rd down passes including the td . Then Webb fumbles first offensive play inside their 20. Joplin scored first play so it's 14-0 and Webb goes 17 plays and scores making in 14-7

Joplin then goes 3 and out ...Webb marches down the field again and then throws a 85 yd pick 6 . That was the changing point . 4 out of 5 of Webb turnovers were bacically unforced ...what made it worse was all of them were inside their own 20 with the exception of the pick 6 . Hell ...one of the turnovers was a pitch what hit the rb right in the hands and he somehow didn't catch it . Joplin played better than Webb and they won. That's the skinny of it . I don't think the better football team won but I know the team that played cleaner won . I was proud of how Webb contained Davis (except one run) . That kid is a stud

I felt for the Webb QB on the first snap had some mis communication with the RB and put the ball on the ground, Joplin had 8 on the line, they sent everyone or maybe would not have recovered. Then Joplin scores on the next play. Goes up 14-0. Joplin Tried to pay some of those turnover back in the second half with a couple fumbles and the blocked punt.
My take is...Webbs Def is fast and did a great job in pass coverage. They held Joplins passing game in check most the game. I think they have a great chance to win class 4.

Joplin was bringing both backers through the a gap which will typically make you have negative plays and huge runs . Both happened except the huge runs turned into 15 yds instead of 50yd tds because Westmoreland was there to run them down

Did webbbb block the punt for a td ?

Yes . Webb was down 35-14 and blocked a punt on the 5 and recovered it in the endzone

I agree with most of what you're saying.

All the turnovers where costly and you're correct the most was probably the interception run back for a TD to go up 21-7.

If you remember Joplin was down by 7 last year to Webb when that freaky fumble bounced or was kicked or whatever toward the sidelines right to Kabala, he took it to the house and momentum changed. I felt Joplin played so tight and scared to lose.

My point is fumbles are part of this game this time you guys played tight and lost.

Yeah that was a funky blocked fg last year that bounced between like 4 guys before kaballa got it

Joplins running game wasn't as good as I thought it would be but they did a good job pass blocking . I think Webb had 1 or 2 sacks but for the most part they kept Tash clean

I was actually worried that Davis would gash them for like 200 yds against their 3 front

The defense held Joplin to 28 having lost 4 fumbles deep in own territory. Given Joplin’s talent at skill positions that is the best that could be expected.

Don’t believe Joplin has ever won at Webb City since merging, Memorial possibly in 84.

Since Joplin schools mergered
Joplin vs Webb
1990 Joplin won at MSSU
1996 Webb won at MSSU
1997 Webb won at Webb City
2018 Webb won at Joplin Junge
2019 Joplin won at Webb

The defense did their job for sure. Joplin has probably the most explosive offense in the coc. They were just put in alot of bad spots

Joplin deserved to win and did a great job capitalizing on webbs mistakes. At the end of the day ...you can't turn it over that many times against a good team . Webb was in the game despite how poorly the offense executed but couldn't dig out of the hole. I'm happy they gave themselves a shot at the end bc at intermission it looked bleek. They were a 3rd and 36 away from being turbo clocked

The Joplin globe said 7,500 people attended . That seemed consedconser to me . Biggest crowd I've ever seen at a hsfb game

if webb had a qb they would win that game 3 outta 5 times. joplinfan shouldn't be beating the chest with this win.

cru66 you have got to be the worst fan ever. Always pointing out any negative.
You remind me of Obama apologizing to any one and everyone for the USA being winners lol. I bet you played at Joplin when we sucked don't be jealous bud.

Mr. Eagle, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I honestly thought the same thing I thought he'd run wild kinda but there was just no holes or crease to run through. The Joplin line I hope and think will improve as the season goes. Webb D is not big at all but they are quick and hungry. Joplin D is pretty similar not real big but learning over the last few years to be aggressive.

Want to put money on which one of us has more hours on a tractor or which one has more land? I may be educated (and have never suffered serious head trauma) so I see right through Fox News and talk radio disinformation, but that doesn't make me a city boy.

Smacked? You do realize that Joplin will be “smacked” by Class 5 Carthage next week!!! Congratulations to Joplin! They are good and they had to deal with an unimaginable tragedy...It was meant to be, and I wish them luck this season but I totally disagree about them “Smacking” Webb. I would say fortunate is the proper term
I also disagree that Joplin "smacked" Webb. They took advantage of turnovers like good teams do. I think both teams were incredibly even. Both well coached. Like two great fighters throwing haymakers. Both teams had the other on the ropes. Proud of Joplin for persevering and beating one of the top teams in MO.

I also disagree that Joplin will get "smacked" by Carthage...unless there is a huge emotional let down which is possible and understandable.

Actually, according to the stats I was given by Bruce Vonderhaar, TOP was actually within seconds of each other. Both 23 minutes and change.

I watched Carthage and CJ Friday night. Carthage was very flat, scoreless first qtr. Joplin should take that game by 3 td’s if they play close to what they did against Webb

Joplin will not beat Carthage by 21. Carthage is VERY good. Possibly the best of the Big 3

As a neutral fan who watched the game I thought it was a tail of two halves, and all I have to say is it was one hell of a football game!! I sat on the Webb side and the fans were very respectful overall. It was great to see the teams come together before the game, how these young men responded on both sides of the ball was incredible.
As i sat with Webbpa and early in the second half Webb was still imploding. I remember the play they had just got sacked it was going to be 3rd and about 18 and a flag had been thrown, I figured hey Joplin will refuse the penalty Webb is imploding why give them an extra down for J-Rod and the Cards to figure things out. Well they took the penalty and gave Webb an extra play and as luck would have it it was that extra down that Webb scored on. I even told Webbpa that Joplin accepting that penalty was not a wise call never give John and the cards an extra play. From that point on Webb seemed to gain some composure and start to get their legs back under them and they started their comeback.

What I didn't understand is Joplin kept running east and west and out of bounds stopping the clock in the second half, the play calling was horrendous on Joplin's coaches part. Joplin looks to have some Duds that can play football, but at times they seemed afraid in the second half to stick a foot in the ground and run north and south to get yards.

Webb fans why did number 12 come in for two series after the backup had just lead the cards down the field with a very nice drive, he had just seemed to get it going and figured out and John pulled him?

After the game on the radio interview John said that starting Goddard and then putting Hicks in was the game plan going in.

I may bitch about the popcorn but last thing I am going to do is start telling JRod how to coach a football team :)

yea that 3rd and forever play started the turn around. the rbs running out of bounds and snapping the ball with 20 seconds left on the play clock had my circle pulling our hair out.

And that was my question I wondered if there was some sort of John wizardry at work. I will say this if that is your third string QB he is better than 70% of most teams 1st string that I watch, the kid seemed pretty decent.

Right I was thinking the same thing run some clock down and don't run out of bounds, Dewey would have come unhinged!!
