Too bad this couldn’t have taken place in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Both programs could still be living off the gate receipts and there would have been some great games. Not sure 2020 will bring much except HC in a lopsided win.

In 1957, Centralia played Helias in the last game of the year. Both teams were 8-0 and playing for the championship of the NEMO conference. Helias won 7-6. That was the last game Pete Adkins was head coach at Centralia as he was hired by Jeff City the following March.
The precursor to Helias was St. Peters. The Saints started playing football in 1931. There was a push from the community for the schools to play in the late 30s but the administration at St. Peters was smart enough to know their enrollment was too small to be able to compete.

Both schools were blessed with great coaches and community support. Both schools had some great teams over the years with some great kids. Hope Coach Bailey stays. This game will become a huge game in future years.

Is this the same Helias that has turned the ball over 5 times tonight against JC?
2 INTs and 3 fumbles in the first 3 quarters of the game.
If Jeff City’s offensive line knew how to block, they’d be ahead at least 14 right now.

It was 7-0 Helias end of 1st
14-0 at half

21-0 Helias mid 4th Q.

Helias defense is definitely above average. They’ve owned the line of scrimmage.
Doesn’t hurt that JC offense has been called for illegal procedure at least 8 times tonight.

But the offense... QB can’t throw on the run. Living off of offsides calls on JC on hard counts on some of their drives
Their offensive line fires off the ball and is very disciplined but their skill guys are a little above average at best.

Sounds like someone is fishing
Maybe it was because it was Week #1. But they barely beat a Class 1 team and had some favorable calls on their home field. 100+ kids on their roster and they went to the wire in 4 quarters with a team that has 25 kids. Lol. Helias is a good football team, but to crown them and act as if this is the best football in Central Missouri is a far reach.

Sorry these are facts...#notfishing
