Jaime traded to Braves for prospects.
I made up the second part.

This trade makes a good amount of sense for the Birds. There is little SP talent on the market. Garcia has an ok contract and he's been better recently. But, he is expendable and headed toward FA anyway. And I have about as good a chance as he does of ever pitching 200 innings in a season.

Sure seems like they cleared some cash here to spend somewhere else, doesn't it?

We got Lenny Dystra's son Pitcher John Gant and Pitcher Chris Ellis. That money, Hollidays money and the money saved last year should allow them to take on two big deals.

Dykstra is an A ball singles hitter.
John Gant has one of those annoying deliveries.
Chris Ellis was nails at AA, then got moved up to AAA and walked 52 in 67 innings. 6.65 ERA.

Help me Rumor...What are the prospects like that we got? Away from a real computer and too lazy to look on my phone.

Duck helped you. The pitchers are interesting.

Dykstra hit about as many HR as you did last year. He's the least exciting one.

Dykstra walks less than Greg Garcia. 20 something times in 2.5 seasons.

The pitchers were top 30 prospects in the Braves org. at least. They provide some depth at Memphis.

I wouldn't be shocked if funky delivery guy made the team. The other has a crazy walk rate that needs to be worked on

So Mo basically traded a lefty SP for depth at Memphis?
I feel like Gant may be targeted for the bullpen

The other one pretty clearly feels like a project for the minors

I think they are ready to ride with Martinez/Lynn/Waino//Leake/Reyes, with backup from Gonzalez/Weaver/whoever else

To me, this is about Lynn being healthy and Reyes being locked into the rotation Why not cash in an expendable starter for some depth and some budget space in a year when the FA market sucks.

I get all that. I just feel like they sold low. Lefty starters don't really grow on trees.

I suspect he wasn't in their plans past this season

I suspect this is the best they could do for a guy who is a headcase
