I'll be @ 15-9 Borgia tonight to see my friend Kelvin Lee coach his 22-3 St. Mary's Dragons. St. Mary's has the # 1 seed next week in class 4 district 3. The class 4 Borgia Knights have a # seed 3 next week behind Sullivan and Parkway West.

SCC---------------21-6 --I am hearing the fans @ Gideon will be cheering for the underdog, Risco. Risco has only 18 boys in high school and eleven play basketball.. This could be the big story across Missouri if the Risco Tigers can pull the upset.

Bird, Can Charleston defeat Saxony Lutheran next week? They are playing well against the weak competition in class 3 district 2. Saxony ( The new kids ) will be tested next week when they do battle with tough Charleston. I have it to close to call.

Can Charleston win? Of course they can; but it will take a good effort. Saxony is a talented team and I'm sure they'll have last year's district championship loss to Charleston on their minds. That being said, Caruthersville beat Saxony a few weeks ago and Charleston has defeated Caruthersville twice in the last month.

Bird, I'm suppose to ask you to go back to 1969 or 70 when Essex-Richland defeated Charleston, Sikeston, Notre Dame, Dexter and NMCC and other good SEMO high school teams. I can remember the Charleston game, I was call to the locker room while Richland was warming up before the game. I heard the crowd yelling on my way back to the floor, I stopped near the bleachers and I saw 6 consecutive dunks by Richland players in warm ups.
I was talking with one of the Richland players today, He got his yearbook out and went over the scores for that season. I can remember talking with you ( Internet ) about the Richland-Charleston that year.

The Sims boys of Richland were a handful, for sure; Norman Cole as their point guard, I believe. Richland had one of the top teams in the SEMO area at that time. I was in jr high but attended a lot of games in the area as my dad was a huge basketball fan.

Bird, Those days were the happiest days of my life. I am still good friends with most of those players and the Richland people today. I believe MFloyd and his brother's mother attended Richland high school before moving to Sikeston. Essex- Richland is no longer a basketball school but appear to be more into " High Academic. " Yes indeed, that Richland bunch will make you attend class or send you home. I'm guessing that's why those Sikeston transfers stopped enrolling @ Richland and some have found safe haven @ Scott County Central.
