Being a long time football coach in St. louis schools like Trinity and Lutheran North are not
football programs that have a system for kids to come up in. They get kids that might be frosh, soph, junior or seniors they transfer there at any age. One running back that is a senior played at Hazelwood West last year, there wide receiver played at Vashon last year. Perkins played at Jennings 2 years ago. So there is no system they come up in. Lutheran North runs 3 plays Jet sweep, hard dive, and crossbuck. The QB only threw 44 passes all years. The 2 coaches are great men and they run the st.louis football club to help young men develop football skill and a lot of their players come out of that club. Don't be fooled by all the hype the only division 1 player on North was Perkins he is going to Oklahoma. The rest of so called div 1 players is because the coaches take these kids all over the Midwest in the summer and expose them to div1 coaches. One running back is going to Ark State he will never see the field. The other running back is going to Ball State he will never see the field either. The lineman at both schools are just big there is very little technique. So when you play against kids that are coached like Lamar and that strong; Lutheran North Lineman have no chance. I coached against them 4 times back in the late 1990's and early 2000's that didn't
need technique they just lined up and had much better athletes. But once you run into strong kids with a system they have run since grade school there is no chance. My only surprise was the score wasn't worse on a dry field Lamar score 21. So that was no where near an upset the better team won and will always beat Trinity and Lutheran North. If Lamar ever loses it will not be a 2A school from St. Louis field. Trinity has lot of decent players back doesn't matter they will win big against horrible small schools up here then get beat by Lamar. Lutheran North will need new kids for next year.
