I coached 26 years of high school football until I gave it up this season.
I had been really playing Lutheran North up as a threat in class 2.
I was wrong they have great skill but their line is very very average.
They start 2 frosh and a soph in the line they need to play JV but
that is all they got. Lutheran North is no threat and will get beat by
Trinty in the districts. Going to watch them and see what they have.
If they are all hype not sure they have won easily their first 2 games ,
then again St. Louis will be void of any class 2 school that can make
a run in the playoffs. Cardinal Ritter is okay nothing special.

Easier to be wrong than right...

I am wrong 72.3% of the time yet ask me and I will still give you the correct answer.

People have yet to realize who the real threat to Lamar is in class 2

My guess: the flu bug is their only threat this season

That's all I've got. Otherwise, my money is on Lamar setting a new 6-in-a-row state champ record in November.

I'll say this... If a team does beat Lamar in the playoffs, I'd all but guarantee they lose the next game. Beating Lamar would be like winning the super bowl and it would be difficult to come back the next week and play back to back super bowls.

Should we not be talking about the team who just defeated the team who defeated Lamar?

ESPN will cover this team tonight at 9:00 Eastern; 7:00 Central....o_O

It's Liberty and only Liberty; if you have someone else in mind, you're mistaken (sorry to be so blunt...)

It's Liberty or injury.

There is a lot of season to be played but I share your opinion. Liberty looks far and away like the top challenger to Lamar.

Lamar is a bit of a victim of their own success in that they have an open week in the schedule and with the exception of probably Valle (outstanding move in getting that game scheduled) and Monett will not have opponents that will push their starters into the 3rd quarter. I think as the season plays out it will show that Cassville was a decent team and Lamar rolled over them.

I am starting to think Mtn Grove may be as good as Liberty but we will find out in a couple of weeks. I think it will be one of those 3 vs Summit CA for state.

If that's true then I would say once again that Lamar/Liberty(or grove) game will end up being the real state championship. Lamar manhandled Summitt last year by 50 pts. Sure they could be better, but a 50 point discrepancy is an awful lot. They had a couple awesome athletes, but you could tell they had never been in a game that fast or physical. The deep threat sort of goes away when the d-line is breaking through clean and the QB can never set his feet...

Lamar beat Monett by two touchdowns last night and that was without one of the Tigers' best two-way players (Hardman). Lamar will get another good test during the playoffs but come Thanksgiving, Coach Bailey will get his sixth ring in a row.

Hardman is an all-state running back - hope he returns 100% healthy by playoff time. Appears to be a shoulder or arm type of injury with his arm in a sleeve last night (point here is not an ankle / knee / leg problem).

Well, I would say Centralia is a very solid squad this year. After last night we know Week 9 will decide the conference and who hosts the district rematch. Would your mystery team be one of those two @Anders4 ?

Brookfield is down from last year but still a decent team. Centrailia is a top 10 team in class 2 from what I hear but I have not seen them play yet. Word on the street is they are not anywhere near good enough to beat Lamar though.

SCA is over rated. The win vs Higg meant nothing, and if you think it did you don't know the situation Higg has been in the first 4 weeks of the season.

They play a cake schedule and Skyline, who is down from last year, will be their only test.

Trinty is very good in St. Louis as a class 2 team. They have beat couple of good
teams very bad. They can't beat Lamar as they do everything with talent and very
little structure. Very good coach would give this team a shot. They are very un disciplined
as they trash talk with a 50 point lead and dance in the end zone after scores. They will
be 12 and 0 entering Quarters of state.
