looks like perfect time to free up some scholarships for better players
This was a good move.
Members of Concerned Student 1950 planned to hold the protest after Missouri’s football game Thursday night. Nearly 100 protesters gathered in the basement of the MU Student Center that night, but decided the circumstances — mixing with “drunk white people” after the Tigers’ loss — could lead to an unsafe protest. Details about Monday's protest have not been announced.
As usual, the KC Star account lacks content.
Exactly. Like the chancellor should invoke martial law.Only white people drink at football games?
Will anyone notice that these guy's aren't playing?looks like perfect time to free up some scholarships for better players
The concerned students 1950 have a list of demands that begin with the Missouri president acknowledging his white privilege and resigning. Then demands like increasing minority faculty hiring to 10% and other moves in order to increase diversity. Some people will dismiss or minimize these concerns as simply reflecting the realities of black students’ disproportionately bad behavior. But research shows that this view does not hold true. The problem is that characterizing behavior as bad always introduces a level of subjectivity.
Well said. The concerned students 1950 have a list of demands that begin with the Missouri president acknowledging his white privilege and resigning. Then demands like increasing minority faculty hiring to 10% and other moves in order to increase diversity.
I don't doubt there are some redneck bigots in Columbia just like there are Columbia just like there are pretty much everywhere in the country but this is not about a few alleged racial slurs by people who might not even be students at Missouri. That is a total red herring. This is political fight and some of the student leaders convinced at least some of the football players that they should get involved.
I predict before the end of the day that the team as a whole will come together in support of the football players stand in principle and most if not all the AA players that are threatening to boycott will play.
That's not to say If Missouri mishandles this that they can't quickly become a national embarrassment.
The president could have gotten out of his car, bent over and kissed their a***es. Or as my dad used to say " they want me to suck s*** through a rag and tell them it tastes good".Im confused. How are these students experiencing systemic oppression? Obviously racist incidents have occurred, but Im also curious on what the President can do differently? He just has to admit his "white privilege".
Looks like we have a full blown strike now as GP is showing support for the team.
Does anyone else find it funny that a group against racism is demanding race-based hiring?
Great pointI have to ask the question. Would the football team be threatening this action if they were in the hunt for the SEC East again this year?
Wolfe has handled this horribly. He's had many chances to head this off at the pass and he's not done much of anything. His statement today again reinforces the fact that he doesn't get how serious this is. He should be relieved of his duties, not because of his "white privilege," but because he's he's bungled this all the way around.
We only know what we've read. There are many news sources available to read about this topic. I found 4 this morning. As one poster wrote this year, opinion, inaccuracy, conjecture and rumor are the basis of message boards.I love how we have so many experts on this board who give their opinion about something they know nothing about. You don't really know all of the events, nor how the administration responded. You base everything on conjecture, rumor, and your own biases. Typical.
What should Wolfe have done?Wolfe has handled this horribly. He's had many chances to head this off at the pass and he's not done much of anything. I doubt it was all that bad. No worries.(what I posted here had nothing to do with the topic at hand [i decided this after reading all of the articles], so I deleted it; I'm not ashamed in the least about what I said though, and will gladly share if anyone wants me to repost...)
(...no one told me or pressured me to take my post down, just FYI)

If stupidity killed, I would be giving your eulogy by now.
