I guess one could assume there will not be a media poll until late September

right now there are 15 schools in st Louis area not playing and that number is growing every day. At least 5 teams are shut down and hoe to play later. The teams that are playing can't play a game until Oct. so I don't see any polls. KC area is starting to shut down also.

it will be lucky to have 12 schools in class 6 every class 6 school up here but 2 are playing in the spring. Class 5 has a few more playing but not many. St. Louis health dept. is allowing no games until Oct. 1 maybe they won't say yet.

That is not how it works. Schools are not "Class 6" or "Class 5". Here is how they are classified:

C. CLASSIFICATION: A school's classification will be determined by its enrollment in grades 9-11 as of March 15th of the preceding school year. (See MSHSAA Board Policy in the MSHSAA Handbook for details on Classification Procedures as well the use of the Championship Factor for non MSIP schools.

The classification for playoffs shall be determined as follows:

a. 8-Man Football: Schools shall be in one class; only schools with enrollments of 150 or less may participate in 8-Man football.
b. 11-Man Football: Schools will be divided into six classes
i. The largest 32 schools shall be in Class 6
ii. 20% of football playing schools are placed in Class 1
iii. The remaining football schools will be divided equally across Class 2-5 as outlined in MSHSAA Board Policy regarding classification procedures.

I don't know how many schools are playing this year, but if anyone has an estimate, you can use that number to determine how many will be in each class.

Does it matter? This year is a sht show, hopefully we get playoffs etc. at this point be happy kids are getting an opportunity to play.

Based on last year's numbers (324 schools), you would be left with:

Class 1: 65 Schools (324 X .2 = 64.8)
Classes 2-5: 56-57 Schools (227/4 = 56.75)
Class 6: 32 Schools

There were about 8 schools that went 8-man and at least 20 that aren't playing this fall and a couple new schools. So let's say it is approximately 300 (give or take a few) for now.

Class 1 = 60
Class 2 -5 = 52
Class 6 = 32

And they would max out Class 1 at 64 (even though it doesn't say that in the rules). 65 would create an extra week of "playoffs" or have one team not make the "playoffs".

I would eliminate probably 75 schools not playing until spring.
With KC Schools voting to play, I am not sure there will be that many, unless there is a breakout that cases that many to drop it before September 18.

But if there are about 250, here would be the breakdown:

Class 1: 50
Class 2-5: 42
Class 6: 32
