How "Missouri" are you in HS football?

So, it’s obvious HS football fans have their regional rivalries and/or experiences, but just how far-flung have your MO HS football experiences been?

I’m counting only games you’ve attended in person. Mine are more concentrated with larger schools and the northern and southern parts of the middle of the state are pretty bare for me.

That being said, the farthest I’ve been to games-

In the Northeast: Hannibal

In the Southeast: New Madrid County Central

In the Northwest: St. Joseph

In the Southwest: Seneca

I’ve also attended games Missouri teams have played in Illinois, Kansas, Arkansas and Iowa.

What are your experiences?

SEMO (pretty much everywhere south of I-70, the only places I haven't been are Portageville, Doniphan, and Kelly.)

SWMO (Webb City, Carl Junction, West Plains, Carthage, Lamar, Nixa, Parkview, Glendale, Reeds Spring, Joplin, Seneca)

Central MO (Jeff City, Battle, Blair Oaks, Waynesville, Lebanon)

St. Louis (pretty much everywhere.)

I played/coached in the SCA and we played all over SWMO, South central and south eastern MO, all the way down to the Bootheel. Had games from Lamar to Caruthersville all in the same season. Spent a little time at Mo State as a grad assistant and got to travel all over Missouri recruiting for that. Finally moved to KC in 2013 and have been to games from Maryville to Seneca. Haven't really gotten over to the Northeast side yet but did get to compete against teams like Clark County, Mark Twain, and Hazelwood Central at a CMU camp in Fayette one year.

Similar to fbguy for me - Seneca to Hannibal to valle to st. Joseph...

Coached Missouri hs teams in Kansas and Illinois...

I’m pretty limited to SWMO. Grew up watching Webb City and some Carthage. Now it’s the other way around. I’ve lived in both as well as a few other places but didn’t follow the local sports in the other places.

Most of my in-person games are limited to the Old SW Conference or the COC but I’ve been to a few road games in odd places here and there over the years in playoffs. Watched WC at Pittsburg KS several times. I’ve also been to some games at Jasper, Miller and some of those very small schools back when I had relatives playing there - thought those were pretty fun.

Northwest: Mound City is probably the truest "northwest"I've been. But also went to a game in Burlington Junction probably 25 years ago. Plus a handful of games in the "Hound Pound"
Southwest: Webb, Marionville and Pierce City
Northeast: None really except Princeton
Southeast: Perryville

Haven't been to any games in the Southeast area, but with my job, from Maryville to Kirksville to Mobery/Fulton to Springfield to KC and many points in between. With Basketball I havealso been in Columbia (Hickman) and Jeff City (Helias)

Northeast--Hannibal or North Shelby
Northwest/Central-Helias at Adkins Stadium
Southeast-New Madrid
South Central-Thayer
Southwest for HS game-Waynesville
Southwest for HS game at College facility-Missouri Southern

In the Northeast: Highland, Putnam County, Knox County

In the Southeast: Valle (Not really Southeast, but that is as far as I have been)

In the Northwest: South Holt, North Andrew

In the Southwest: Not applicable

I have been to many games in the Northeast and Northwest and a few in the St. Louis and Kansas City area, plus a handful in Kansas. Valle is the furthest south I have gone.

This made an old man think where I have seen HS/college ball in Missouri. In my past, I scouted for several schools across north Missouri. Best place may have been Princeton because you where way up high. Most unique may be Maysville with the cemeteries next to the field. May have forgot a few places.

The ole cemetery bowl in Maysville. Definitely a unique venue.

For me...

Furthest..... in Missouri

NORTHWEST: Rock Port High (6 miles from Nebraska, 10 from Iowa)

SOUTHWEST: Anderson, MO(McDonald County High)(10 miles from Arkansas and Oklahoma both)

SOUTHEAST: probably Thayer High (been all over SEMO, just not for football lol) (1 mile from Arkansas)

EAST: either Kirkwood High(STL) or Jefferson High(Festus)

NORTH CENTRAL: probably Princeton High since I don’t have a Northeast other than STL

On a side note....
Most Notable Stadiums I’ve Visited that I Would Recommend

Fawcett Stadium: Canton, OH
Capacity of 23,000
When first opened in 1938, had a capacity of 15,000 and was the largest high school stadium in the country

Had been renamed since I saw it in 2015
Home to Canton McKinley and Walsh and to the Hall of Fame Game.
Sits next to the Hall of Fame

Paul Brown Tiger Stadium: Massillon, OH
Capacity of 16,600
Home to Massillon Washington High (the arch rival of Canton-McKinley)
has an 80,000 square foot indoor practice facility for football next to it.
Opened in 1939

Ratliff Stadium: Odessa, TX (Friday Night Lights)

Capacity of 19,300
Opened in 1982
Home of Permian High and Odessa High
As of 2015, is also home to UT-Permian Basin

Union-Tuttle Stadium: Tulsa, OK (Tulsa Union High)
Capacity of 11,000
Nicest indoor facilities that I have ever seen in person
Recently demolished one side of the stadium as part of a major renovation to the schools facilities
$45 million will be spent on the stadium as part of the schools renovations, including a 40 yard long pressbox with luxury suites
Upon completion will still seat 10-11,000

Tiger Memorial Stadium: Broken Arrow, OK
Capacity of 11,925
Majority of the seating on home side. Very simple stadium in comparison to the others, but a beautiful stadium nonetheless
