Harrisonville isn't going to the Suburban anytime in the near future in my opinion. Enrollment numbers have been declining in recent years. It would only make sense if there was growth. As I look around not much in the way of new housing going on to help increase growth.

Probably be a stretch for Excelsior Springs to give up playing East KC, Central KC, and Benton to instead play Fort Osage, PC and Kearney every year.

I think you can ditto this for Excelsior i.e. both are in exactly the right conference. The team JN did not list I would consider adding is Center.

I think center fits in nicely in the MRVC west though clinton is a little to far south for my taste

A quarter century ago Kearney was in the now defunct West Central conference. Those trips to Clinton were loooooong.

I would have liked to see Van Horn instead of Clinton. Clinton was probably more familiar to the current members of the MRVC as they once played with several of the school's in the WCC years ago.

MRVC West would look good, and be very competitive if it looked like this. It would solve scheduling in football for non conference games.

Harrisonville
Warrensburg
Oak Grove
Odessa
Pleasant Hill
Excelsior Springs
Center
Clinton
Van Horn
Smith-Cotton

they have already configured confs for the next 2 years and thats not what it look like

West Central Conference back in the late 80's early 90's with Harrisonville, Kearney, Ray-Pec, Warrensburg and O'Hara was alway a competitive conference.

Suburban Conference in the 1980s:

Big Six
Lee's Summit
Blue Springs
Oak Park
Park Hill
Raytown
Raytown South

Mid Six
Hickman Mills
Van Horn
Fort Osage
Grandview
William Chrisman
Truman

Small Six
Liberty
Belton
NKC
Excelsior Springs
Center
Ruskin

Kearney was in the WCC from (1987-2000.) Those school's left long before Kearney arrived. In fact shortly after those smaller school's left that is when O'Hara and St. Mary's joined the conference. St. Mary's only played in the WCC for about 2 to 3 years. Clinton left for the Show-Me Conference, then returned to the WCC around 1991 or 1992. When Kearney played in the WCC it was O'Hara, Harrisonville,Warrensburg and Ray-Pec with Clinton coming back later.
I sure didn't remember KTown ever playing any of those schools.

Living there now, it's absolutely insane to me to think Lee's Summit didn't have a second HS until something like 1996. How big did the original LSHS get before North was built, any clue?

My dad graduated from Lee's Summit in 1960. I spent a lot of time in that town growing up. My grandma lived there. That town really hit a boom between 1990 and 1996 when LS North opened. Then it really took off. Hard to believe how large (annexed land mass) and populated that city is today. It has 5 high school's. Lee's Summit, Lee's North, Lee's Summit West, Summit Christian Academy and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic. Probably going to see another public HS in the near future as well.

They probably waited as long as possible, like Liberty, Mo did. So many groups trying to hold off, especially the coaching lobby. Great to have 2,500+ students, and be one of the 3-4 biggest schools every year. That can make a lot of coaches look great.

I'd say you're right. I think there's a plan to have the fourth MS opened by the 21-22 year. Or maybe the next, can't remember. I lived at the corner of the 3rd and Pryor in 99. There was nothing south of there. I remember that Hy-vee at 3rd and Ward being the edge of town. Just seems like crazy growth for 20 year span.

That whole area has gone crazy (seeing this up North especially in Liberty as well). I heard a few years back that Ray-Pec may build/open a second HS as well..............someone from there would need to confirm that, though.

One of their asst prin told me it's in their 5 yr plan...but has been for a while.

A Cass County person I know said Peculiar, one of the fastest growing areas in KC. Will eventually be a new Ray Pec "East"

Raymore has been a boomtown for the past ten years.

I have heard that Blue Springs is supposed to build a new HS north of town on Pink Hill Road in the next couple of years.
How does Blue Springs stay with two high schools ? With all of the growth in that southeast quadrant, it amazes me that they can stay with the status quo.

Ray-Pec High School is just barely inside Peculiar city limits. I imagine a new HS would be built in the City of Raymore when they build another.
My cousin, who lived in Raymore, pointed out the land that the school district bought to build Raymore High School. That was in about 2005. I'll believe it when I see it.

It really is the entire KC metro area including Johnson and Leavenworth counties in KS. Travel across the USA you see the same thing: rural towns dying while everyone moves within range of the cities where all the jobs that pay a living wage reside.

I like it.

You have just described Clay County...
Drive across extreme northern Missouri. The towns up there have dried up and blown away in the last 40 years. It's the same everywhere. People move where there is economic opportunity. And in rural America, those opportunities are for the very few. So people move to places like Liberty and Kearney, and Grain Valley, and Raymore.

Grain Valley is gonna be another Class 5 school before we all know it. Oak Grove you are next in line............
