Under Donald Trump the deficit is on a path to more than a trillion dollars per year and discretionary government spending is growing faster than it was under Barack Obama, when he was working to stimulate our way out of the Great Recession.
But what was angrily portrayed as generational theft and galloping socialism under President Obama is now accepted with all the outrage of a cow chewing its cud.
Everyone in Washington seems to suddenly accept the economic and political benefits of government spending, as the GOP hopes to keep the stock market goosed past Trump's reelection. While it's great that Washington appears to have avoided another truly stupid, self-inflicted government shutdown, Congress is whistling past the graveyard. That's because deficits are growing while the economy is booming — up 23% in the first nine months of the fiscal year alone. That's not supposed to happen. And there will be hell to pay when the remorseless math of rapidly falling tax revenue kicks in during the next downturn.

Have you bothered to look up the total deficit under Obama?
I NEVER heard Obama say HE would eliminate it. Sounds to me like you're trying to compare 8 years to 2 years AND forgetting what was going on when Obama came into office. You're also forgetting that the bailout money and other spending was put in place BEFORE Obama took office. Seems like I recall Obama and McCain leaving the campaign trail to return to DC for votes on that stuff.
This is the most pedantic crap. You are clinging to something he said on the campaign trail, if you hold EVERY politician to the same standard (every campaign promise unfulfilled) you're bound to be disappointed in ALL of them.

Have I ever claimed he was for the normal person? I didn't vote for him, depending on who the Libertarians trot out (or if Tulsi Gabbard somehow wins the Democratic nomination) I probably won't vote for him in 2020. Trump is not "my guy", but I MUCH prefer his policy (with the exception of environmental issues) to anything the Democrats offer.
To be 100% honest, I'd much rather Bill Weld be the Republican nominee or decide to run as a Libertarian, because given enough exposure, he would win.
I mean potentially, but if you (the American people) go purely off policy, Weld is by far the most sane option in the field. Bill Weld is around 80% of the reason I voted for Johnson in 2016.
What the hell are you talking about? I didn't say it was campaign promise, he said it during an interview. He is not only ignoring his claim to get rid of it he's adding to it by leaps and bounds!!

When have I ever said he can do no wrong? Just because I dont get up in arms over him lying (like every other politician) it doesn't mean I'm being led around by the nose. I DON'T like most of his environmental policy.
You can't be that dumb! You KNOW what Trump has done is VERY different from what ANY other president has done in our lifetime. I know, I know, he handed out some candy via a tax cut and you guys drool over it. My $20 a month ain't worth having a madman in the WH.
