Hey 3R,

Rebelman I’m not trying to start anything with you. But I thought the news in that area was that an administrator had admitted to reporting numbers wrong purposely.
No offense taken at all. I don't know the whole story with the administrator so I don't want to comment a whole lot on that. I would think for false reporting to get you into major trouble, it would be the other way around and reporting enrollment figures or ada higher due to state money...again just my 2 cents, I could be wrong.

I don't know about the Park Hills comments. Jumping 20 schools and adding at least 50 kids in a single year of enrollment just seems rather odd. Especially with everything surrounding the school the last few years. High School enrollments traditionally go down not up due to drop outs, families moving, etc. They've been class 3 for the past 4 years. That's long enough to support ideas of number fixing.

Exactly what I was saying earlier. It is extremely suspicious to have your enrollment number change by THAT much in one school year and to jump 20 schools in ONE year. Within a few years, yeah that could happen with a big loss/addition of jobs in the area, but jumping that high up in one year is extremely unusual. A quick google search pulled up this. No details really, but I'm guessing that's the administration stuff someone else mentioned. https://dailyjournalonline.com/news...cle_ca5d4fce-ccb8-5a8e-af9a-97858c7da553.html

As for the Oran stuff, I don't think many people would have scheduled the way they did or ran the score up the way they did the last four years. The player herself isn't what people are irritated about, she's obviously a great player, it's the shameless record chasing that the coach is pursuing by repeatedly blasting overmatched opponents year after year. 30 point wins are one thing, but several 40 and 50 point wins is a whole other story, Oran's strength of schedule the last four years has ranged from -2.5 to 1.8 on maxpreps.

Ok thanks. I guess either one can lead to problems for sure. Good luck

I don't discount anything as being possible at this point. I have seen and heard of lots of very questionable things over my years of following high school sports.

For instance, Park Hills Central had been Class 3 for years and years prior to this year, but this year public school funding began being tied to mshsaa enrollment, and all the sudden Park Hills jumps to Class 4 and they aren't even close to the cut off line. Their enrollment is listed at 458 and the smallest Class 4 is Boonville at 409. Park Hills is above 20 other Class 4's in enrollment. So we're expected to believe that the year funding gets tied to enrollment figures that Park Hills enrollment just happens to skyrocket well into the Class 4 ranks.......orrrr they were fudging numbers all the previous year.

So again, I don't discount anything as possible.
You could not be more wrong if you were getting paid. State aid is based on average daily attendance. MSHSAA numbers don't have anything to do with it. Check with your local people and get your fact straight.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood. Most people around here made accusations of not counting all of our students, when in reality our sophomore and freshman classes are abnormally big and in the recent MSHSAA changes we had to count the other students. If I'm not mistaken St. James also has a boys home in their community it just didn't affect them as much. They had a count of 468 in 2016(4 classes) and now have a count of 392(3 classes) this year, because of this same ruling where MSHSAA gets the enrollment number from your DESE count. Again I could be wrong on all accounts....

So does Oran play THAT weak a schedule??.... after getting drilled that bad. Seems easy to score a lot if you are playing teams that weak.

[Disclaimer: I do not have anything to do with scheduling or team management in any way. Just a fan]

Oran, Oak Ridge and School of the Ozarks are the smallest Class 2 schools in the state.

This year they dropped out of the Delta New Year's tournament and got in the First State Bank Holiday Classic, where they faced Saxony Lutheran and Jackson. They added Notre Dame in the regular season. They participated in the Jackson shootout where they were originally scheduled to play Parkway South but after it had to be re-scheduled they took on and defeated Park Hills Central. Also this year they played Dyersburg, Tn., Poplar Bluff, Dexter as well as a regular season matchup with Saxony.

Slightly off topic, but in order for the junior varsity to get more floor time, the jv participated in the Bloomfield Varsity invitational tournament.

Doesn't seem that weak to me.

Congrats to Thayer on the win, we will be rooting for them.
