Helias vs West Plains

It is rare that I read a post on this forum from someone who is so uninformed as you are.
Jeff City enrollment is 896 - the smallest school and only Class 4 school in the CMAC. Therefore, they already play 6 games against schools larger than they are - in some cases, 2 classes larger (Rock Bridge & Hickman). The other 3 non-conference games are Hannibal (Class 4), Osage (Class 4) and Moberly (Class 3). So, except for Moberly all JC opponents are the same class or larger, sometimes much larger, than they are.
As for Hannibal, I am not aware they were dropped. If so, it wasn't because they are winning, but it would be due to cost of travel. It makes much more sense to play Camdenton, Lebanon, or Rolla (all Class 5 and all under 75 miles).
Please check your facts before you post. I am shocked that you would post something as uninformed and misguided as you have just done.
So what exactly am I uninformed about? I'm talking about their 4 year enrollment as reported on DESE, not the 3 year numbers from MSHSAA, and they're enrollment last being reported to DESE was 1310. So what did I say that wasn't factual? Part of me really thinks you think their total high school enrollment is 896. You would be pretty uninformed if that's what you are actually thinking. So maybe you should take your own advice and stop being so uniformed and misguided.

I posted because I don't think they should be playing schools like Osage and Moberly, who have around 700 kids total in their high school, now you can add Sullivan to the list. Jeff City is the biggest class 4 school this year as stated, next year they may be class 5. If you read all of my posts you would know that I said I think Jeff City should be playing schools in non conference like Camdenton and Rolla, or Lebanon like you mentioned. I said those were reasonable schools to play. My comment was in response to jcpasser saying Jeff City needs to play a weak non conference schedule to "pad" their record. He was also the person that said Jeff City shouldn't play Hannibal because they can't beat them.

Jeff City, Cap City, Sedalia are all around the same enrollment wise and Battle has a round 300 more students. Helias is smaller. There are only two schools that would be considered quite a bit larger, Rock Bridge and Hickman are sitting a little over 2000. These a 4 year numbers from DESE.

And seriously, stop acting liking Sedalia and Hickman are tough teams in that conference. They're just not, and if you think they are, explain how.

To be honest, it's not even a class thing for me or enrollment, it's knowing that Jeff City is on a different level than schools like Osage, Moberly and Sullivan, so they should be playing schools on their level ability wise, regardless of enrollment or class.

It's amazing that me having an opinion about some non conference opponents that Jeff City plays has you this up in arms. You used to be the biggest crap talker about Jeff City on here, never had a positive thing to say, only negative. You only made posts bashing them. It's weird.

I didn't mean they couldn't eventually beat Hannibal but they've played twice a year for three years that were basically blowouts. Time for some new competition with comparable talent.

Hickman has a lot of talent but the coaching is bad . Hickman coach is on the hot seat. Sedalia is about to get more competitive since hiring former Kearney coach. Their junior teams are already showing huge improvement.

Uh, maybe. Thought Helias JV spanked them (Sedalia) pretty good. Hickman job would be a great challenge. Not sure what kind of support it has but definitely has athletes.

Just because one of the top 2 teams in the conference spanked them, doesn’t mean they’re not showing improvement. 🤷🏽‍♂️

When I was referring to junior teams, I was also referring to freshman, the middle school teams, and their junior league grade school teams. They are winning games and getting blown out.

It is odd that you have suddenly come to the defense of JC. Literally almost every post you have made has been about how bad the previous staffs have been at JC. Since you are the most informed person in JC let’s just check some of your facts…Helias is smaller enrollment than JC, so they’re not the smallest CMAC school. Hannibal was dropped and I would almost guarantee it was because they weren’t beating them and not because of travel. Rolla, Lebanon and camdenton are in the OC which before about a week ago did not play out of conference games so they couldn’t be scheduled, although I would like to see those games.

Maybe go back through some of your old posts and check your facts before you post. I am shocked that you would post something as uninformed and misguided as you have done…we all know you have had some weird obsession in the past with bashing JC. But now you come to the defense, is it because LePage has had success again? Is it because you are just hoping JC does well so you can say how bad LePage and Walker ruined the program? What will you say if Wells leaves after this year? What if he left this summer after interviewing for other jobs? Would he have been another terrible coach in your eyes and set the program back?

So what is Helias and Jay fans thoughts of adding Camdenton, Lebanon, Rolla and Waynesville to the CMAC?
I have always liked the idea of Camdenton joining the CMAC. I personally like to see teams be able to schedule a couple of non conference games. I would hate to see Helias and Hannibal not play if the CMAC went to 10 or 11 teams. I always wonder if Smith Cotton will try to get out as well.

Helias has the enrollment multiple for being a successful private school program so they are technically not considered the smallest school in the CMAC

Correct, but their raw enrollment is still less than JC.

When it comes to Private schools it's less about quantity and more about quality of the student-athletes and coaching staff. That's why schools like Cardinal Ritter win even though they keep moving up classification

They have been saying that for years! They have had a jr program going for years ar Sedalia too with the best youth football set up around. So what is the problem there at SC?

It is crazy to think that JC will be playing Fulton in a state play off football game coming up this week. That is what people can not wrap their heads around. JC used to not be able to find people to play on their schedule and would have to travel out of state or just have a bye week. MSHSAA should (like playing up) take points away for playing down each class.

be a lot cooler if they'd just stop awarding points for either.

You might have not heard but Jefferson City has a second high school now with the new high school having a slightly higher enrollment

You drop from class 6 to class 4 in football and then drop a good class 4 school to compete with and see where you are at as a program? That is not what JC was known for. That is what people have a hard time with. Especially when you already play Osage the first week and Moberly the last week. I get wins matter and you have to do that for a program to build back up. It is just hard for some people to think of that JC and then think they will be playing Fulton in the first round of districts. Wish nothing but the best for them and good luck.
