One of the very few teams to come into Webb City and not be intimidated. They had all the confidence in the world, even to the last second. Great showing by them. In years past when Webb has a close semi game, the State game is a blowout win. Let’s hope for the same. Seeing ladue in person, the QB is not nearly as good as PC nor do they have a receiver like PC did. What a game, see you in Columbia!

I doubt that, really. Point was PC had better talent at QB and WR than ladue. But, they made it so all respect to them.

PCs schedule is so tough..by the time to get to Webb, they've had the intimidation beaten ouf of them.

Yep and I would bet anything Coach Utz got more than one call from fellow HCs up here who have experienced victory at Webb (Jones, Minnick and Gray from KTown come to mind). It is a special atmosphere that intimidates many.............

I was more concerned about PC's pass attack than I was about their defense. Man was I wrong. And I'm not saying that to take away from their offense. Their D-line was as good as any I have seen. Was not expecting that. PC had one critical mistake that, had it not occurred....IMO, likely cost them the game. Why would you grab the quarterbacks face mask and yank his head after the play is over. Remove that idiot mistake and PC likely gets the ball back with maybe 4 minutes left. I am quit happy though with the way it actually played out. Big congratulations to all of WC's defense, outstanding job holding PC to 18 points.

The biggest thing that really helped Platte county was a bunch of very questionable past interference calls on Web defensive backs that was just terrible
I thought Platte County played a great game. Definitely a big play offense, but their defense was outstanding. A really great game.

44 yards rushing for PC, 50% completion percentage, multiple exchange issues, both defenses were good. I thought Web defended PC as well as any defense PC faced all season. Wind or not, Webb's defense was the best unit on the field today.
Webb the perfect team to beat PC. Limit their possessions, milk the clock ( a healthy 330 plus by Webb Off). Make PC drive it. Webb put pressure on the Q with a 3 man rush, and could stop the run with 5 in the box.
Pretty good game by Webb. Passing teams that can't run it typically lose these types of games every time.

PC's D wasn't that big but wow they were fast, 28 at LB was brutal. The wind didn't seem to bother their QB, he could sling it. To bad Kabala was out for Webb but hopefully he will have a couple more years to be a difference maker! Congrats and Good luck to Webb on Friday!

He's a good player.

Platte County was very impressive . That team was maybe the tallest team I've ever seen (not the biggest) . They had height advantages all over the place. I was super impressed by # 28. I think the Webb radio guys said he had 14 solo tackles and a pick. Platte was very very fast on d and tackled well. Their qb took some brutal hits but hung in there and threw accurate with tight spirals against the wind or with ....and #23 is pretty special as well. I'm glad Webb survived but good freaking job to PC. They would beat cj for what its worth

This is the advantage to running the offense PC runs. High school officials will call defensive PI a lot.

I think PC-CJ would have been a great game because of the team speed of CJ but PC definitely gave WC the toughest test of the season.

I do think you make a good point on tackling. PC did a good job tackling and preventing some short runs from being long runs.

At the end of the day it is a great win and very happy to see the guys have a shot at a state championship.

Respect for Platte's QB. He stood in there for some brutal shots from Webb's D and kept getting back up. Platte missed a couple opportunities but to be honest so did Webb. Their #6 had a sure pick six go thru his hands on the first drive of the game. Hats off to PC for the effort today and congrats on a good season!

Ditto on their QB. Thought maybe the kid broke some ribs on one hit. My hats off to him, tough kid just kept coming back at you.

Thought he got broken in half once or twice. He was slow getting up late but that kid had guts. Tough son of a gun and a good passer. #3 for Webb had a dominating performance at d end.

In 20 years I could count on one hand the times I have ever heard coach Roderique complain about officials. In the post game radio interview he brought up the "questionable" PI calls then said "I don't know, It is What it is" I am in no way a football expert but they looked like good defensive plays to me. JRod is the last man on the face of the earth to make excuses for his teams performance.

After 3 PI calls the defense has to be thinking they have to back off a bit. Both of Harrisonville TD Drives were extended when 3rd down incomplete passes turn I nto 15 yard penalties on Webbs defensive backs for PI

It was a correct call IMO but the first PC TD when the score was 14 was set up by the personal foul late hit on the fumbled snap. Instead of 3rd and about 25 it was a 1st and 10. The game seemed to be getting away before that play. From that point on the game was a dogfight.

At the end of the day though PC completed several pass plays that were well defended. I think the height and speed of Kabala would have helped but several were just perfect throws and catches so you tip your cap and go on.

From what I’be seen of Ladue they are much more of a running team.

Apparently even though it appeared the ball was still loose on the field an official blew the play dead right before our three guys steamrolled their QB.

I think that get’s flagged 9 out of 10 times. It was a mistake because of hustle but it got PC out of a huge hole.

That was kind of a goofy play. Although close ....I think it was the right call...I dont blame the Webb kids for going for the ball but they did blow the whistle before they dove at the qb. It was a bang bang play..kind of a judgment call

I did think it was funny there wasn't a single holding call in the game...look at Ozark sports zone picture of the recap for reference

If you let the receiver catch the pass, and hit him real hard, that's a penalty too.

PC did much better than I thought they would They actually had a run defense. Their offense is a major step down from last year.

While really surprised by the final, I was on the Webb easy side, I must be missing something.
Not to take anything away from Platte's effort but their defense has been average to below average all year - why so successful against Webb?

Great game plan and terrific linebacker play.

Not sure what your basing your statement that the offense is a major step down from last year. Clarkson threw for 800 more yards and 11 more TD's than Mitchell did last year. They also had two 1,000 yard receivers this year, which there were only two 1,000 yard receivers previous in school history and neither one was last year. Although they didn't beat Kearney they hung 31 on them with three turnovers and a blocked punt inside their own 30.

If anyone paid attention, after the first few passes in the first quarter, #23 was moved to the PC side of the field. Then they throw the ball long and start screaming interference before the ball gets there! Just saying....
