Hats off to Platte County

If anyone paid attention, after the first few passes in the first quarter, #23 was moved to the PC side of the field. Then they throw the ball long and start screaming interference before the ball gets there! Just saying....
I would call that a good coaching adjustment. Why would you put #23 on the WC side of the field throwing directly into the prevailing wind? I counted 2 pass interference penalties both in the 4th quarter and neither one of them led to a PC score. The first PI was thrown by the umpire and it was in the middle of the field, there was a push and PC receiver went down. To WC defense the ball was high and could have been ruled uncatchable. The next play PC snaps ball over the QB head for 9 yard loss. Next play pass interference #23 on PC sideline, the camera doesn't follow the play so you cant see what happened. Three plays later PC throws interception. IMO the PI penalties really didn't give PC an advantage.

Per coach Rod, there is not a " un-catchable" rule in high school football. He says it's one of things he laughs about when fans complain about PI calls. He's says "if you are gonna yell at the refs, you better know the rules"

Great to know because Coach Rod was pretty upset with that PI call.

Not sure what your basing your statement that the offense is a major step down from last year. Clarkson threw for 800 more yards and 11 more TD's than Mitchell did last year. They also had two 1,000 yard receivers this year, which there were only two 1,000 yard receivers previous in school history and neither one was last year. Although they didn't beat Kearney they hung 31 on them with three turnovers and a blocked punt inside their own 30.

They scored fewer points per game this year...and I was basing that on seeing the Harrisonville game and the Kearney game versus the previous years’ games. I also saw the Webb game.

Points per game was 4 less this year at 36. The Harrisonville game last year is the anomaly 49-0. Harrisonville had 7 lost fumbles and 3 interceptions, and most of the turnovers were giving PC a short field. Last year’s QB dad is PC defensive coordinator and I believe he would agree this year is better.

I would also point out scoring against high quality opponents..way down this year.

2017 Staley 27 points 2016 42 points
2017 Harrisonville 20 points 2016 49 points (turnovers, i get it)
2017 Liberty 35 points 2016 38 points
2017 Kearney 31 points 2016 39 and 41 points (against a better D)

Kearney's defense was just as good this year.

I applaud you for doing your homework! We can agree to disagree. I've been at every game for the last 4 years. PC has QB up for Frank Fontana award and #23 up for Bobby Bell award. Statistically #23 is the second best receiver on the team yardage and td's.

You are obviously more in touch with it than me. I only witnessed both Kearney vs. PC games last year, and the one this year. I also saw the Harrisonville vs.. PC THIS year. And the eye test told me this offense was not as good. Mostly because last year I thought PC was crazy freaky good in those games last year. I had no idea there stats were so good this year. And frankly, it is a surprise. But I only saw a small sample size. PC looked very lackluster on O against Harrisonville. And against Kearney this year--not even close to as good as last year against what I think was a better defense. My sample size was very small.

If you carried conversations like this more often, you would have a lot more friends on here lol

No such thing as an "Uncatchable" ball in high school. It can sail into the stands and it doesn't matter
