He also just made bad throw that most high school players make 99% of the time and has led to a big inning for Padres. This has to be the worst infield defense I have seen from a Cardinals team in my life time. and now he cranks another one out. wow
I know this is the major leagues, not hs or college but if I was the manager Moss would have been out of the game so fast it would make his head spin for the goofy, LAZY play he made/did NOT make, at 1st base. I can take a guy not fielding a ground ball cleanly but at least get the out you have 2 steps a way! I wouldn't care if it embarrassed him to be jerked out in the middle of an inning, he SHOULD be embarrassed!!Never we need to at least win a wild card spot.Right now we are in a dead heat for the 2nd wild card OMG These are Middle School type errors.
It's one play. It happens. Granted, it was a really bad one. But it's one play. Over 162 games. Not a reason to play an ineffective Adams or anyone else. Moss isn't good, but neither really is Adams or any other option at 1B. Biggest hope is for Peralta to come back healthy and play him at 1B or 3B, and Marp at the other. When that happens, probably going to need to move one of Moss or Adams. By then, hopefully Adams will be worth more than a bag of balls. Not a big Adams fan but the bone head play Moss made today merits a serious spell on the bench or trade him for a pile of dog doo doo. Play Adams or Jeyrko anybody but Moss that was the worst play I've seen a pro make in a long time. If you are going to bury Maness for being bad then Moss must sit.
I wouldn't put Moss on the bench for a long period for that play but I would have pulled immediately after that. He needs to know that is NOT acceptable. It's one play. It happens. I understand that school of thought, but he's a vet. He gets it and knows it's not acceptable. It's not like he's Castro and has a big history of bonehead plays. I'll be the first to admit, I applaud MM for not acting rash and pulling him. Class move to let it ride.I wouldn't put Moss on the bench for a long period for that play but I would have pulled immediately after that. He needs to know that is NOT acceptable.
You don't pull pros in the middle of the inning, but why was he back in the lineup tonight? It's not like he is hitting anymore. How many errors have they made tonight and Maness comes in and throws gas on a huge fire. Another ground ball hit like a rope over the infielders head.Wong misses another routine ball with Maness on the hill that spells troubleI understand that school of thought, but he's a vet. I think the Birds have decided it has to be either Adams or Moss at 1B. Holiday isn't a viable option there. And I can see that. Maybe Gyorko or Marp can play there some, but I doubt it will happen until Peralta comes back. That said, MM is going to have to look at lineup construction. Can't keep plugging Holiday and whoever plays 1B in at the 3/4 hole. Diaz needs to move up, allowing Piscotty to drop. All that said, the offense really isn't the issue. Gotta find some pitchers that can actually get the ball to the catchers mitt without it getting hammered somewhere before that happens. You don't pull pros in the middle of the inning, but why was he back in the lineup tonight?
