Harrisonville at Webb City on Friday night.

Well, you're playing Webb at home - that means you spot them 14! They are going to score at least 14 points at home, just ask CJ about that. The only team to stop them at home with less than 14 was the incredible, NFL team of Kearney '03! (They were incredible to see in person and painful as they turbo'd everybody that year.) So, H'ville has to come up with at least 15 pts. to win. Now, can you score that many against a defense that Smithy will have hungry and mean! He had so worked up last Friday night that I pitied WP's o-line that before that night was incredible against everyone they played. This is the quarterfinals, no one is easy at this point. So, will you come ready for that? That's the question for both teams.
Webb 31 Harrisonville 14 Watching the podcast for sure.

The key for Hville is the same as it is for anybody that plays Webb. Can't make mistakes and can't be beat before the game ever starts. Having had a son play on teams that have played Webb in the past, that last part is a huge hurdle to get over. As strong a program as we've had in Hville since getting bumped to Class 4, that"s the one mountain we haven't yet been able to climb. This group has a chance as they are well coached and talented but you can't be beat before you get off the bus. Much easier said than done. Good luck to both teams and I do expect a good game.

The last two games have been in H-vile and they did not appear intimidated. I'm sure some of that came from playing at home and feeding off that energy. Do you think playing in WC will make a difference?

Well if your using the last two games as a comparison they better bring more than unintimidated

Tough to say. Last time we were there, QB popped the option on us on you're first offensive play and went 85 yards for a td and that took the wind out of our sails. A good start is key. Thought our best opportunity to beat you guys was at our place in 08. We were on a 40+ game win streak at that point and weren't intimidated by anyone at that point. Not scoring on the early turnover in the semi-final game at our place in '10 was a big momentum changer as well. I expect our guys to play tough. The offense is much more diverse than it has been in the past so that's a plus. We have to be ready to go from the first whistle.

As long as the kids don't get big eyed when they walk into the place I give the Ville a chance they are very big and run the ball very well. But let the flags blind you when you walk in and your beat before the game starts. Focus on being who you are and not who they are and your chances go up by at least 50%. That being said I think Webb wins the game by two scores big game experience is on their side. Only way I see Hville winning is come out punch them in the mouth and keep punching till the game is over even then it is probably a tall order.

I think the near loss to Carl Junction got the Webb players focused bigtime. Every year since they have been in Jr High the season ended at the Dome with a championship trophy, I think they finally realized how quick and painful it can end if that's not the case.

If Tyson can keep playing they have a good shot, Greek is obviously a good QB (he has won every game he started) but it seems like the team feeds off of Tysons energy when he is out there, the kid is a warrior.

WC has been a little unusual this season (aside from the fact they consistently find a way to win every game) and I've been surprised at some of the outcomes. I thought CJ would be a landslide victory, and it was less than an minute away from being a loss. I thought WP would be close and it wasn't. As expected, the CJ game really seemed to fire up the Cardinals and reminded them that no victory comes without substantial effort and focus.

If the Cardinals are able to keep that focus, I like them by 2+ TDs at home over Hville. But my predictions on WC haven't really panned out in many cases this season so who knows. I think ti will be a fun game, I wish I could make it.

Im not sure how you pick a favorite in this one. It is at Webb. Advantage Webb. Harrisonville has been denied advancement in the playoffs and is really motivated. Advantage Harrisonville. No better coaching tandem than coach Rod andcoach Smith. I truly believe this will be a great game.
One huge key to watch in this one is whether Harrisonville gets off to a slow start.............they have done so in a number of games I have followed this year and CANNOT do so at Webb. Regardless of scores etc. every time I've seen Webb it is unreal the energy that team comes out with especially at home!

This is not your average Harrisonville team so it could be a dandy IF IF IF (as stated in another thread response here) they get off to a good start. I also want to see the Cats put the ball in the air...............this will be the ONLY team they have faced that will be able to match them physically in the trenches. Those lines, even just watching webcasts, are excellent on both sides of the ball. On the other side I am not sure how anyone will force more than 1-2 punts from Webb's offense if at full strength. I still favor Webb by 2-3 TDs at home but frankly am hoping HVille proves me wrong!

Hville has confidence but Hville has doubt, Webb will put the doubt in their heads right away. Hville hasn't played the schedule Webb has won. Beating Webb at home is like fighting the crazy dude that everybody stay's away from. You have to kill them to beat them. Was 2009-10 team the last time Webb team was soundly beaten? Can't recall without looking on MSHSAA results.

Yes actually they have only lost once since 2009 and the 25 point loss to Kearney and it was a 7 point loss 42-35 at Harber in 2013. 86-1 since then. Amazing ten year run, 05 one loss 07 one loss 09 one loss and 2013 one loss but won State, '06 '08 '10 '11 '12 '14 were all undefeated. Considering only about a third have been against Class 4 and 2/3 against Class 5 and above makes it even more impressive...

What was Webb Citys record 1999-2004?

I would not count out Har Ber as physically matching the cards. They have gone undefeated since narrowly losing to Webb, and mostly by huge margins. I admittedly don't know anything about Ark football but from what I have heard, the teams Har-Ber plays in the regular season are pretty stout so I'm inclined to think Har Ber is the best team WC has played or will play this season, even if they don't make it all the way.

I actually think WC did pretty soundly win the game up front on offense against Har-Ber. Har-Ber was the only team WC has faced that had much success throwing the ball against WC and there is no doubt that Har-Ber played as physical against WC as anyone has in several years. Starting but not ending with Tyson's injury WC probably felt like they were still playing that game weeks later.

As for H-Ville. They have proven over the past 15 years to be a good test for anyone. WC has had their number but that doesn't mean that some of those games haven't been battles.

Anything is possible for Harrisonville. Kearney had their number for a while, too, until they wen to Kearney (2010) and won in a slug fest, 14-10. I'll get a front row seat on this one as I'll be taking field-level pictures. Ready to put the new lens to the test.

If Harrisonville can't move the ball and they go to the air, they will play right into Webb's hands. The D-back turned a corner midway through the season and since then, have been lights out in coverage. When you watch them (D-backs) on a pass play it looks like the wide receiver has all ready told them what route they are going to run and the cornerback is in their hip pocket. If Harrisonville goes over the middle, Crane is usually there to either deliver a hit that is going to scare the kid for the rest of the night or an interception happens. The first three games I was very apprehensive about the d-backs, but now, it's kind of like, please throw on them, then we get the ball back. Not saying Harrisonville can't do it, but that will be one of the things that Webb will want from them. Which means you aren't moving the ball on us thus throw it and then we'll bring Nutting and Crane on blitzes and/or we'll be back there to double whoever the ball is going to.

My prediction : pain. Lots of pain. Both teams will limp away from this one. Glad the winner gets Affton or St. Genevieve. Not taking anything away from those two but you don't want to face Kearney less than full strength.

Affton or Cape Central though I do think the WC-H-Ville and the Kearney-Hannibal games certainly have the feel of semifinals. Whoever comes out of the match-ups will be solid favorites in the next round though anything can happen.

I wouldn't sleep on Westminister. I think they are the best of the rest

How hard will it be to get a seat at the game tonight if a guy gets there at 6:15 or so?

Not a problem. You just mention that your a friend of webbpa or webbpaspilot. That should get ya a seat on the 50 yard line.

On the home side you should easily get a seat on the home side I would think. Probably not close to mid-field because those crazies still show up at noon I think! On the visitor side there is usually ample seating unless it's Carthage or CJ.
