Thats wild and outright ridiculous. You are absolutely right though. A flaw like that could be why the track closes againYep you can see the edge of the old paved track on the west side of it.

The most unbeatable driver I have ever seen. The seating situation must have been a temporary thing. They have nice bleachers there now and the tier parking on the other side is one of the coolest things at any track I've been toI went there when it was (briefly) dirt. Weirdest seating ever up on a steep hill you had to bring your own lawn chairs. Saw Jeff Purvis dominate the NDRA late model feature summer 1985. Was also my first exposure to one of the more infamous mod drivers in MO history Rex Merritt from over in Billings.
Larry (legend) Phillips was the master of both dirt and pavement. Think better version of Ken Schrader.
I think the new ownership cut this corner because Lafayette county made them fence the entire outside property which was a pretty immense cost plus they wanted to open by spring 2021. The whole other subject is the drag strip......................Thats wild and outright ridiculous. You are absolutely right though. A flaw like that could be why the track closes again
Keep in mind that has been almost 40 years ago! Definitely go all HSFB mode here once we get to the games but love chatting about other interests like this.....................The most unbeatable driver I have ever seen. Tune in during the offseason I love to chat about racing when the season is actually here.Keep in mind that has been almost 40 years ago! Definitely go all HSFB mode here once we get to the games but love chatting about other interests like this.....................
My favorite track . Larry Phillips, Dick Trickle, Tom Reffner, the 70s were awesome. 90s saw Adam Petty.Ever make it out to the I-70 speedway? I went to the old one as a kid. Haven't made it to the new one yet
Oh yeah. Lafayette County put those poor owners through the ringer. All sorts of permit "issues" kept coming up. The renovation had major delays throughout the whole process. I could see why the decided to cut a corner. That's just an important corner to cut!I think the new ownership cut this corner because Lafayette county made them fence the entire outside property which was a pretty immense cost plus they wanted to open by spring 2021. Ole Dick Trickle. Now there's a name I haven't in a hot minute. Name still makes me chuckle. My favorite track . Larry Phillips, Dick Trickle, Tom Reffner, the 70s were awesome. 90s saw Adam Petty.
Yep waiting to see what they come up with for 2025 but already know neither World of Outlaws series, High Limit Racing nor Lucas Oil LMDS are interested. Minus any of those you are a regional facility at best.Oh yeah. Lafayette County put those poor owners through the ringer. All sorts of permit "issues" kept coming up. My dad and youngest uncle took me to the World Cup 300 their first year of operation (1969). Trickle and the purple 99 was king! Everyone dreaded seeing him enter the pits.My favorite track . Larry Phillips, Dick Trickle, Tom Reffner, the 70s were awesome. 90s saw Adam Petty.
A&W sponsorship. First world cup 400 was 1976 it was late October and cold. Reffner won.My dad and youngest uncle took me to the World Cup 300 their first year of operation (1969). Trickle and the purple 99 was king! Everyone dreaded seeing him enter the pits.
That was when the event went from unsanctioned to ASA if I recall right. My favorite driver from that circuit not named Trickle was one Mark Martin. Fun 70s fact my aforementioned Dad and Uncle were a minor sponsor of #53 Terry Bivins. Bill Moyer (brother of founder of Karl Chevrolet of DSM area fame) was his primary and was going to be his ticket to NASCAR.A&W sponsorship. First world cup 400 was 1976 it was late October and cold. I watched Mark battle Larry and Rusty numerous times at the Springfield Fairgrounds in 1977. Watched Bivins at Springfield too, the Monte Carlo! Spoke to him in the pits at Warrensburg about 2021 I believe. Great memories, great drivers, purists if the trade. That was when the event went from unsanctioned to ASA if I recall right. If you were at CMS at that time you may remember my sister and brother in law's modified #16S. I am unsure, though, who was driving (they went thru so many I razz them about it to this day)..................I watched Mark battle Larry and Rusty numerous times at the Springfield Fairgrounds in 1977. North GlenstoneMight be… but does that put Clinton and Adrian in SW MO? But agree on Springspread… son attends college in the north vicinity… said a common quote is if you don’t try hard in class, you’ll be living on Glenstone.
