Friday Night Lights the book.

Being fairly new to MoSports this may have been discussed in detail but I finished Friday Night Lights. I loved the read but I was surprised that the book was more about Permian oil history and race relations than football. The movie and show was nothing like the book for sure.
Any recommendations for sports history related books?

I agree, that the book is absolutely nothing like the movie. Most people watched the movie and thought, " Wow! Texas sure does take it's high school football seriously." Then never realize how things actually are. Back then at least.

I've always expected some of those Friday Night Lights doc stars to show up here though.

This one is fairly close to the area(Northwest Arkansas)

Year of the Dog: One Year, One Team, One Goal.
By. Kurt Voigt

It was a good read. It follows Springdale Highs final season before they split the district into two schools.

Was also Mitch Mustain’s senior year, along with all of the other D1 prospects and signees on that team. Follows their recruitment at the time. I won’t go into too much detail, but definitely enjoyed the book that’s for sure.
