A successful three-year stint saw former Dutchman Paul Schmanke
return to Owensville High School where he led the football team to a 18-15 mark
in three seasons at the helm.? In this his third and final season Schmanke
guided the Dutchmen to an 11-2 record, advancing into the quarterfinal round of
the playoffs and earning Central district Coach of the Year honors in Class 3.
Schmanke, a former Missouri Tiger, has decided now it is best
to move on, a tough choice after a solid run in Owensville.? "It was a
difficult decision, but was reached based on being able to have more time to
send with my growing family", commented Schmanke.
After commuting from Eureka for the past year, Schmanke has
accepted an assistant position at Eureka where he will assist the Wildcat
football program. "Owensville has been a wonderful place to coach football and
the new head football coach will inherit an outstanding group of senior football
players.? As I make this move I am really excited about being a part of the
excellent school and football program at Eureka High School."
An expectant father, Schmanke has plenty to look forward to in
the immediate future.? Owensville will now begin the process of trying to
replace their successful mentor.
