...Dylan Cole spends the first 4:20 talking about his favorite charity, but starting at 4:21 he talks about his path to the NFL:

- 0 star recruit out of high school (too skinny)
- Largest college offer was MSU (and they recruited him as an “athlete”, not knowing if he’d play O or D, LB or SS)
- Four year starter at LB after his redshirt year (a year he used to fix the “skinny” part)
- Lead MSU in tackles in all four years but his first
- Lead all of FCS in tackles his final year
- Pre-Season first team All American his final year
- Still was not even invited to the NFL combine (said he was used to it by now)
- At his MSU pro day, he outperformed all linebackers in the draft in vertical and bench (and had a top five 40 for LBs)
- Still went undrafted (to small), but as a free agent was signed to one of the highest paying undrafted rookie contracts this year
- Has been on the field for half the defensive snaps for the Texans this year (save the four games he missed due to a hamstring)

He was back in the lineup Monday and should start tomorrow against the Titans team he set a rookie record against earlier in the season with a pick, a TD, a sack, and a TFL.

Motor matters!

Combination of effort + attitude works every time.

While I agree thats a part of the combination....theres a lot more to it than that.

That said, I got to meet Dylan while he was still in high school and he always seemed like a top tier kid...attitude, presence, humble, etc....its a big part of why he is where he is today.

Here's the thing these "experts" don't have figured out:
You can't quantify the human spirit.

I hope the Lucas kid doesn't let offers slow him down. Why not just walk onto a Power 5 team? By all accounts he's the best player in his school size in the state. Probably on both sides of the ball. Someone suggested that he might not want to play at the next level. Is that the case?

It's my guess you could fit all the people who know EXACTLY what's on this kid's mind in one small closet. There is almost zero hype coming out of Lamar. Ever. It's why we never know anything for sure until game time on this board!

That's the part that's really amazing about Lamar. That they're so successful at attracting college coaches and sending so many of their players off to play at the next level, from a small division high school in a tiny town, and they can do it without all of the exaggerated, over the top promotion that other schools use. I'm not surprised because it makes sense that 7 straight State rings would be a magnet for colleges. It's just really cool that they're so humble about it. No flashy Twitter graphics or videos bragging about offers. Just winning games. Nice.

Are you guys really comparing a white 5’8 Lamr kid to Dylan Cole who is black and is an absolute freak. Dylan was a lanky 6’1 high school kid who had a 40 inch vertical and ran a 4.4 40. If the Lamr kid even wanted to play football in college what position could he even play? Don’t even say RB, or CB because he is not the right skin color to play those positions in college

Why bring race into it? (And pretty sure Lucas is taller than 5’8”...)

Also, then why wasn’t Dylan recruited AT ALL??? You’re playing the results here...

There are a lot of Lamar fans here. Can anyone provide any inside info of the schools that are recruiting and have offered Lamar's Seniors this year? There aren't profiles on the Rivals or 247 recruiting boards. That doesn't mean their players aren't being offered and multiple fans have commented that Lamar is at least as heavily recruited as the private schools in St. Louis. It'd be fun to track the kids up to when they sign their NLIs.

Yeah Ole Christian McCafrey was horrible in college. White, 5'11 played RB at Stanford. Your racist comment is a little childish..

White skill position guys aren't the norm in upper levels of most sports. Let's not pretend to not know this . There are some that are just freakishly good that make it but not many. White NFL players are mostly quarterbacks , offensive lineman , kickers and punters ...
