7-4 now, with plenty of time left and they're about to get into the middle of the Nat's pen, something they haven't done this series. Gotta hold the line now. They gave up before stepping on the field.
Edmonds and Rolen were 1-30 for in the 2004 World Series. A big part of the sweepDo you remember Jack Clark or Albert Pujols or Jim Edmonds or any Cardinals ever striking out 7 times in a row during the playoffs?

Goldie and Ozuna don't look like they're seeing the ball well. Some of the Ks are just pathetic.

Still had to score and did have their chance in the 8th but pretty good for the pen to do what they did against this lineup. That 10 run thang they had against the Braces did em in I guess. They held the line, bro. Lost 4 straight.

Yeah, all you have to do is find a 20 year old who plays like the second coming of Ken Griffey Jr. and you can forget Bryce Harper ever existed. Super easy, something the Cards can clearly replicate next year.Addition by subtraction for the Nats ... Bryce Harper.
I didn’t say a word about the Cardinals. Sheesh! Bryce Harper played for the Nationals, not the Cardinals. They both wear red caps so maybe that’s where the confusion lies. My point was/is that sometimes losing a “supposed superstar,” who is a cancer to a team, can actually do them some good. Bryce Harper, who now plays for the Philadelphia Phillies (also a reddish cap), packed up their gear after their 162nd game (that means they didn’t get to the postseason/playoffs). I hope I’ve explained well enough that my post had nothing to do with the St. Louis Cardinals (red caps with “StL” on it) and the Washington Nationals (from D.C. - not Washington, the state. Also red caps but with a cursive “W” on them). Also, second coming of Ken Griffey, Jr.? You gotta be kidding me. What did Ken ever do to you to make such a comparison? Oh, yeah! They both did win the HR derby at the ASG ... my bad. Any other similarities I’m missing?Yeah, all you have to do is find a 20 year old who plays like the second coming of Ken Griffey Jr. and you can forget Bryce Harper ever existed. The idea that a very good baseball player was holding his team back but now they're good is silly.I didn’t say a word about the Cardinals. Sheesh! What team would fire their GM and Manager after reaching the NLCS? The team was good enough to get there. At that point its mostly who is hot and who isn't. The Cards have been on both sides of that line. We just won 2 of 3 over the Nats less than a month ago. Unfortunately they got hot after that and we cooled off. The Nats are 18-3 since the Cards beat them on Sept 18. You have to give them some credit.
Not talking about his overrated talent. He is a good baseball player, but not worth his current contract by a long shot. Attitude is suspect and to what I was referring. The idea that a very good baseball player was holding his team back but now they're good is silly.
Dude you know I was talking about THAT game at THAT time. They did hold the line after the 7 first inning runs, they just didn't hit, which was exactly what I said they had to do. They had their chance with bases loaded down 3 and didn't get it done, in THAT game. They held the line, bro. Lost 4 straight.
The Cardinals won the season series against the Cubs and the Nats, apparently they were better than those two all season long. Seems like I remember the Birds having a few injuries back then.Watching this team all year, did any of us think we needed to upgrade the offense with a hitter or two at the deadline? Yes.
The Cubs, for one picked up a good hitter who helped them. The Cardinals did not.
The Cubs were ravaged by injury late and lost out to Milwaukee and STL. But they used all avenues to try to win. St Louis did not. And they haven’t for 4 years. It was obvious to me that there wasn’t enough hitting to compete with the top notch pitching staffs—-LA, Was, Houston, NYY.
This collapse vs Washington was historic.

Not in THAT series but they set a record for 1st inning runs in the playoffs against the Braves and against a pitcher who had them baffled in game 2 of that series. They beat Sherzer the last time they faced him. Where did those hitters go?They didn’t get it done in ANY of the games in the series. Did you watch?
