Fair Grove-Lamar

I don’t care if they have Wilt Chamberlain and Dikembe Mutombo lined up as their number 1 and number two wide outs. Tough country boys that play hard nose football in one of the best conferences in football will always beat Springfield suburb doctor’s kids who’s most adversity they’ve ever faced is choosing a 2018 Dodge Ram or 2014 Hummer.
“Of course I’ll pick the Hummer over a Dodge, but JEEZE. If you’re going to offer a 2014 I GUESS I’ll settle for the Ram...”
From Strafford?

If the QB has a little time I think FG will be able to throw on Lamar. Their pass defense is a little suspect, but they will have to block well and I think Lamar's size and physicality will overcome that in the end.
1. Lamar will run, run and then run some more. This will limit the Groves possessions.
2. I suspect that the Grove will have more kids playing both ways.
These two factors give the edge to Lamar.

I think the team that wins will be the
team that makes the fewest mistakes,
team that controls the line of scrimmage,
team with fewest turnovers,
team that has fewer players going both ways,
team with the longer time of possession,
team that's more disciplined,
team that scores more points,
team that's more battle tested,
team that watches Rudy before the game.

We shall see which team steps up does all these things.

OK, so, while I'm not looking ahead, but clearly I sort of am, Ava has hosted all of their District games, Lamar hosted 2 out of 3. Should both advance, as I understand it, Ava would travel to Lamar. Is that correct?

Yes. Also will be on the road in the semi unless it's Hallsville over Clark County (will have hosted all 4 games):

Clark County due to not hosting previous round
Palmyra due to hosting less games
Hallsville over Palmyra due to not hosting previous round
Christian due to hosting less games

I was just thinking about the drive from Clark County to Lamar, can't think of a worse one actually.

Why should a team be penalized for playing 8 games, when only 5 is required to qualify for the postseason? Totally disagree here.

If Lamar had only lost one game they would have solidly outpointed Fair Grove for the top seed. They got the seed their season deserved IMO.
Because you can't have a dead even comparison if all teams do not play 9. So, "divided by 9". AND you totally disagree but per FG/Lamar I was right. ANYONE around, look at teams played, NO WAY FG should have been the 1 seed. Elseteams should ALL schedule DOWN and go undefeated, 5-0 baby. ((((congrats to both teams last night.)

What is this other crappy Springfield suburb you speak of?
Looks like I was spot on with how this game would go. FG can start their basketball season while Ava and Lamar may be one of the best football games of the year.

Fair grove plays cupcakes all season, then plays teams with 1-3 wins in class 2 during the first few rounds of districts. Then they play Lamar. They are always still shocked when they lose by 30-50 points each and every year to Lamar.

Some of you are acting like this game was 50-13 until late in the 4th and FG scored 2 times late against Lamar's JV. They were up 19-14 in the 3rd. Lamar did what they do, but give FG some credit for being in a dog fight from almost 3 quarters. Seems like Voorhis is doing good things at FG. Congratulations to both teams.

Now why would people on here actually watch the games they comment on?

Yep, that quarterback for FG was a pretty good ball player. When you shut down the run, though, chuck ‘n duck offense will result in some big plays but can also deliver a 50-25 loss. In this case, ground ‘n pound > chuck ‘n duck.

I was at the game at it was a good one until Fair Grove had the two turnovers and Lamar scored on both. Best of luck to Fair Gove in basketball but from the looks of the height and speed they have they won’t need it.

Nowhere did I criticize Fair Grove. They have an excellent team/program. I did criticize our District ranking system. Most thought it obvious that Lama would defeat Fair G. by 14 plus points. That is what happened, yet our district scoring/ranking system had FG as a 1 and Lamar a 2. This could be tweaked and improved. NO ONE that knows much football would look at F G's 8 game schedule and 8-0 vs Lamar schedule and 7-2 and thought, Oh man FG is better than Lamar.

It doesn’t really matter does it. In the end the better team almost always advances
