Very tragic. Not the guns fault though. I hate to sound cold but the original post wasn't intended for any purpose other than political. This makes no point other than guns are dangerous and are intended to be. I wonder how many kids under 12 were killed by poisoning from household cleaning items last year?
With a smart gun, this girl would still be alive. So would thousands of others. Everyone could keep their guns. The only people fighting smart guns are gun manufacturers and their PR firm, the NRA.
Why not prevent these accidents?
Why not prevent the depressed 17 year old from blowing his brains out with Dad's gun? Why not prevent the stolen gun from being used? If you stole my phone you couldnt unlock it. Why not do that with a gun?

Smart gun that only I'm capable of shooting? So when my wife is at home with my 6 year old and a home invader (with any weapon, men are physically stronger than women) breaks into the house. My wife goes for the gun but can't use it because it isn't calibrated for her. Totally useless.
Anyone pushing for gun control is a misogynist and wants women to be hurt, killed, or raped because they've been disarmed. Guns level the playing field for women more than any social justice bullcrap legislation you and your socialist overlords could pass.
