Does Webb City win another GAME this season?

Wasn't Webb 9-3 in 2016? ... it's easy to see how anyone jumping off the J Rod train might have been over-reacting. This team is probably going 3-9 and are led by a guy who had three losing seasons in five years at Seneca.

I don't have anything against the new guy, but Webb has had one of the state's top coaches — if not the top coach — since 1988.

Right now, I'm not sure you could make a convincing argument that they have one of the top five coaches in the COC.
2016 was 9-4. For some reason the first game (a loss to CJ) is absent from Webb's mshsaa page but it is on CJ's.

They lost the first game to a very good CJ team, a game in which Webb had a stunning ~8 turnovers. The next week they had 4 turnovers at Carthage (a C5 state semifinalist that year) and lost. Then later in the season they dropped another one to Ozark, who btw beat Carthage.

Losing 3 games in the regular season seemed atrocious at the time because look at the run that was coming to a close. Looking back none of those 4 losses were bad. They beat CJ convincingly in district then lost to the state champion in the quarter round. Really not a bad season even if it seemed that way at the time. Just had a very clumsy start that probably cost them two games that otherwise they might (?) have won.

I really get a kick out of some of banter on here. Most people who have in other states and then moved here in this area all support the team where they live. I grew up in a town where our team most of the time didn't win a majority of their games but they work to be better athletes and friends of the ones we play with while there. I still get together every few years with the people I grew up with and talk about the time that we had while there.

I take a great amount of pride in the fact the entire state is so giddy WC is having a poor season so far. This is decades of angst and frustration being built up and finally expressed. Only shows what a historical run WC has been on. Live it up fellas, you deserve to have a little fun after watching that dominance for so long.
I’m just giddy Kearney is 4-3 against Webb.

Kearney alumni even have more train robberies than Webb. Although the leading robber may have been homeschooled by the original Kearney mom.
good burger is your butt okay GIF

Webb has a down senior class. Just like 2016 when you all were calling for jrod to hang it up. They have several massive talent classes behind this down to 6th grade if all stay in the program. Looking for things that arent there

“One down senior class” shouldn’t lead to 3-5 on that schedule. Webb Jrs and Sophs, if massively talented (your words), should be able to produce better than 3-5.

This group might be a relatively down class plus the most talented player (a Jr) isn't playing. But there is not a lack of depth and talent on the field. Defensively they are good the problem is they just can't score very efficiently, too many of their points have come from defense and one-off big plays like a pick6 or the QB scrambling for 71 yards. Truth is if #3 wasn't injured they'd likely be 7-1. They may not be dominating but they'd at least be winning instead of barely losing.

Veer is right there are a lot of good classes with lots of talent and depth coming up. Which might create an interesting quandary. They will likely out-talent most of their schedule and win a lot of games even if systematically some things look off kilter to people who know what they're looking at. The talent and depth could mask system deficiencies - if they exist. So you may have a noisy faction of move-in dads screaming for a coaching change when they are having 7-2 regular seasons and settling for district trophies instead of state champion trophies.
