Based on what you have seen, heard and read about teams across the state after 6 weeks, what do you think the Cardinals chances are of winning their 15th set of rings (oops. Fixed). and once again reining supreme atop the Class 4 mountain.
Is it; there may be “better” teams with more talent but it won’t matter? Coach Rod and his staff are the best and they’ll get it done? They may be beatable but you’ll have to see it to believe it? What is your take?

Truth is both Webb City and KMO have some significant hurdles to pass in the playoff track. Maybe the wildcard scenario is that neither WC or KMO make it to Columbia.

WC: Ladue / West Plains
KMO: S-Town, Platte Co, Ex Springs, St Jo Laf

Impossible at this point to know. They play in an expanded conference so don't have any out of region games where maybe a small judgement could be made. That being said I think it is dead obvious that, like even their "down" years, anyone who plays them down the line better bring the A game for four full quarters.

As for other contenders just take one look at District 8 and anyone can see KTown has its work cut out for it. I still love Ladue BUT the story of the year in this class so far (by a pretty wide margin) is WEST PLAINS. Very, very excited to see how they fare........

Well if they win, it won't be 15 in row!
2015 Class 4 Champion was Kearney
2016 Class 4 Champion was Harrisonville
2017 Class 4 Champion was Webb City

I don’t think anyone has ever won 14 in a row. Not even Webb City!

Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed. I posted a similar poll for Lamar and liked the responses so figured I’d try again this time with WC. That’s what I get for trying to copy and paste to save some typing.

Webb isn’t beating Kearney this year. Deal with it Webb fans
The purple dogs are no more a guarantee in the finals than WC this year. Both teams have a lot of obstacles in front of them to get there. District 8 championship isn’t a gimme for them. It would be fun to play Kearney for the championship this year to have a chance to narrow the series just as much as it would fun for the Webb kids to play any other team in the championship game this year too. Every year is a new group of seniors who have their chance to be the leaders.

I agree. Ladue just put a whooping on Pattonville on the road, who was #9 in Class 6 on Friday. West Plains seems like a team we won't know how truly good they are until they (probably) play Ladue in the quarterfinals.

Looking at those two districts (1-2) that quarterfinal looks about 98-99 percent likely. Statewide this is shaping up to be one of the more interesting playoffs in recent memory. Other than CBC (cannot say enough how impressive the Cadets are this year) I don't think there are any other "slam dunks" in any class.

Don't know a lot about either team but if both stay healthy and do play each other, I am confident WP will not be out coached. That is no slam on Ladue's staff, I don't know any of them, they may be equally as good but I can't imagine them being any better.

You might be surprised.

Their current linemen coach returned to the sidelines this season after spending the last three years committing more time to his family. I remember being told back in 2015 that losing him was a big blow because of what he has to offer to the players. Now that he's back, I mean the stats speak for themselves. I don't know how their staff rates, but I only hear good things from the players and other fans. They scout/gameplan very well, do a great job of calling games, and have gotten the best out of their solid athletes.

On the same token, I've only heard positive things about West Plains.

West Plains and Ladue will be a amazing game. Wish I could attend.

Ladue is loaded on the d line once again .I would be surprised to find a better d line in mo CBC included .....they have several guys go both ways which could hurt them but who knows ...their strength of schedule is suspect. SlUH is terrible and they barely beat them ....they have some big wins but when you look at who those teams beat and lost too it becomes muddy. I have a feeling the best 3 teams are Webb , ladue and west plains .... Kearney is an afterthought
