You give him a chance to actually play, and he will easily match Morales. You act like Morales was a 40 HR guy yearly. He's cracked 30 twice in 10 years.

Soler had 12 in 86 games last year....while fighting some nagging injuries....and splitting time.
You know what... I hope that you're right ! I said what i said because Soler has yet to prove crap. Yes he will get his chance although he may end up as a platoon player or a DH. He also needs to stay healthy. Let's see what if anything the Royals do with Jarrod Dyson.

I'm afraid the Royals time has come and gone. It was a nice little 2 year run.

If they make some smart moves in trades and draft smart, they will be able to compete. Look at Cleveland. Same market size as KC, and they put the pieces together

Plus they play the White Sox and Twins...

I hope I am too. I like Soler and I'd like to see KC stay remotely competitive

Good points

They should stay competitive within their division although the Tribe should own it for for at least the coming season. Their starting pitching is something else....
Very good. But very unhealthy. Similar to the Mets. Keep near them until they fall apart

In the future, sure. In 2017? Ehhhh.

Realistically, they probably have to blow it up given how many key guys are hitting FA after this year. Davis was just a start.

Well yea. 2017 is a wash for them.

They need to move Gordon and find a replacement for Moose who can hit. Dump Ventura while he has any value left in his youth...

It can be done. They just need to keep focused on building a team rather than lining their pockets with profit

wccards21...meet David Glass owner of the Walmart Royals. ;)
Ohhhhh I know. You could have Jeff Loria though, so be thankful

Wal Mart doesn't make enough money to fund a baseball team though. They are struggling.....STRUGGLING I SAY!!!

Their payroll is not that low anymore. Top half of MLB last year.

Problem is that all of their really good talent is basically old enough for FA or is paid like it. They cannot afford to pay for it all in the world of free agency.

What you say about last year is true. The obvious plan was to get back to the playoffs and defend the crown...that was last year. Looking forward to 2017, it is obvious every time that Dayton Moore speaks that Glass has either leveled off or reduced the payroll. Most of the KC fan base see '17 as their last true shot to get back to the playoffs. Evidently Glass doesn't see it that way. He has never been particularly popular with the KC fans.

TBH Glass is smart if he wants them to do that, although if you're going to trade Davis and consider a rebuild, you really should tear the whole thing down and get as much back as is possible.

Let's see where things are when spring training starts. I think that there will be much more clarity as to the direction of the Royals by that time. Starting pitching not the bullpen is the real issue with the Royals. Yes Davis will be missed but IMO they have a better option in Kelvin Herrera. Lets hope that cards21 is right about Soler.

I can't remember a time where I hoped for Cards21 to be right.
