Dark Horse Contenders

Nothing would surprise me with this group. This is a team that can beat Webb and also lose to Willard. But, I certainly wouldn't want to play them in the first round. Especially once they get their top 3 offensive guys back from injury.
I mean who in that district would you want to see first round haha

Smithville lost but looked way better than Kearney did (I saw both games in full). PC should have turboed Kearney (they would if they played now). Smithville is a case of being in this ONE down year but still having talent and coaching to make a run but they do need to get that offense in sync. Not gonna be able to just run the ball to win once they reach the Quarters.

Kearny lost because they kept trying to run up the middle on number 70, who they were double teaming and still could not get around. Hence, the 28 yards of total rushing. Kearney had plenty of opportunities in the first half to put up a 17+ point lead on SV, but failed to get in the end zone. I don't see the big difference, except better second half adjustments and a better game plan. Kearney was ahead at the half.

Ambroson is a top HC. How much longer he stays at Smithville is key to them keeping it going. Next year they will be outstanding.

Agree with your assessment of Coach A. I remember when he played QB @ ISU. I don't remember if it was his first gig but when he went to Moberly it was a dumpster fire. They had experienced a lot of in-the-basement seasons. It took a while and a lot of patience and hard work (what impressed me most was his resiliency and work ethic in the face of adversity while he got athletes out and convinced them to work hard and they could be winners) and he built them into a very competitive program and left them with a winning culture and tradition which has endured. When Smithville announced his hiring I knew they were in for good things.

Lot of interesting takes in this post..... Here goes mine.

Class 3-Richmond, eh maybe if they were class 2.
Class 4-Harrisonville will win games because of their run game, that back is good. BUT watch out for Helias, they could get them.
Class 5-I'm so sick of the "Oh watch out for Raytown" comment. Team was LOADED last year and didn't do squat, except embarrass themselves against Staley. All those fellas graduated, the games they've won have been against nobody's.
Class 6- Get of Greg Jones's **** they are down and won't make a run of any kind, they are not last years LN team. Look for them to get worked.

Additional comments

Who cares about STL, get your own thread.
Yes, Pius is recruiting, and was given a gift being class 2 while the powerhouse class 2 teams moved up to 3. They could make it to the Ship.
Belton..... Never heard of them, looked at their schedule.... they have played no healthy or decent teams. They are not near as good as their record shows, I consider Raytown down and the bluejays could lay the smackdown.
Smithville, sorry guys don't see that happening, won't make it out of their district.
Platte County, sorry fellas, if they stayed class 4 I could see it more, but nah.. No chance.
FINALLY... Class 6 is such a **** show this year, it's a toss up, that guy is doing great in Ray-Pec with Kruise's kids though.
Keep that same energy about Belton. I guess we see tonight against what I hear is a Dark Horse...

Speaking of dark horse contenders is MOBERLY one? I literally know zip about them.

They haven't played anyone that would offer a stiff test so far. We will know more about them after tonight v. Columbia Battle.
Right now, Class 4 District 4 looks like Hannibal's to lose but Moberly has given Hannibal fits in recent years. Hannibal's new coach may offer a different challenge for them though. That remains to be seen.

Grain Valley vs. Belton October 23rd. Both should still be undefeated.
Winnetonka vs. Platte County Next week
