Cardinals are 1 game over.

We are not contenders and never were.
Mo knew this and still made no deals to rebuild the club. STL players are just going to suddenly fix their defense, baserunning, pitching and grow a number 3 hitter out of their wazzoo at the major league level because Matheny and company are so good at keeping young guys on track.

You can complain about a lot of things but the guy in the 3 hole is doing quite well there. He has over 20 HR's in the bigs and had 13 more to start the season in AAA and he's still hitting around .300 with an OPS over .900. YOU wanted a HR guy to hit 3rd, now they have one and you still ain't happy. Exactly what do you want, a name on the back of the shirt that you have known for years and a contract worth a couple hundred million $$$?

Please show me the link where I said I want a guy who strikeouts out a lot batting third. 1/3 of his atbats end in a K. YOU are the one who complains about K's being awful. Now they are wonderful?????

I want a legit third place hitter. A guy with a great OBP and legit power in the middle of the lineup. Not necessarily a ton of homeruns.

Not Grichuk junior. Yes. I want the Cardinals to sign or trade for a great player who will make everyone around him better.

The most profitable team in baseball can afford such a person.

This. All the numbers on Dejong suggest what he's doing isn't sustainable. Ride it now while he's hot, sure. But penciling him into the 3 hole seems like a bad plan. It's far more likely he regresses closer to Grichuk/Diaz type numbers. I'm not saying he shouldn't be part of the plan for '18, just not the 3 hole plan. This desperately needs a SS glove and a 3 hole bat, and that won't happen in the same player. Ideally that player is a corner OF'er. Once that happens, the chess game with guys like Dejong and the dearth of corner OF guys can begin.

Exactly. In my opinion. You sign Lynn and package one of the young pitchers and a/some outfielders for a defensive wiz at SS unless we are going for Stanton. Before you throw a hissy fit, there is no guarantee any of these young pitchers will be a star. None of them were as highly touted as Shelby Miller. Lynn is exactly who we know he is. We dont need to reshuffle the chairs on the Titanic. We need some major trades/signings. And please, no more slow white guys who K a lot.

No!! I still think the SO's in MLB are RIDICULOUS but it seems to be the new norm. YOU wanted a HR guy and HR guys these days SO a LOT. He fits that mode very well. Neither you nor I know what DeJong will do next year but I don't see another Albert Pujols type coming along that hit for power, average and OBP. Look what a find he has been for the Angels, at least out management didn't take that bite of the budget. If you think this team si gong ti be in the running for Stanton, or anyone near that, I'll find some prime property to sell you in Butler County.

Duck do you want a guy with 97 SO's hitting #2? Pham is doing just that and everybody wants to keep him.

Do u think Pham will match these numbers at the MLB level next year?
I don't know what Pham will do next season nor does anyone else. Might be a good time to deal him while he's worth something to other teams. He is already 30 years old and has a serious eye problem that may of or may not wait till he's done playing to resurface.
