Congrats to Aurora, Carthage, Lamar , Skyline and Webb City

I know that Webb City, Carthage and Lamar were former members of the old Big 10 Conference. Was Aurora also a member?

Is aurora and lamar both at home? I'm saying my long trip to St Louis next weekend.

From Wikipedia.

1928[edit]
The conference was established as the Southwest Activities Association but was known as the Big 10. Founding members were: Aurora, Carthage, Joplin, Lamar, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Neosho, Nevada, Springfield and Webb City.

1953[edit]
The Big 10 changed to the Big 9 when Springfield and Joplin left the conference and Cassville was added.

1963[edit]
The Big 10 was re-established when Carl Junction was added.

1976[edit]
The Big 10 added McDonald County, East Newton and Seneca to form the Big 13 Conference.

1982[edit]
Joplin (Memorial) lured Neosho, Webb City, Carthage, McDonald County and Nevada to form the Southwest Conference. The remaining schools formed the Big 8.

2013[edit]
The Big 8 Conference voted to add McDonald County as its ninth member effective in July of 2013.

2014-2015[edit]
Carl Junction Leaves Big 8 Conference for the Ozark Conference (Large).

As to the rain/playing in Kansas jokes, the changes we made to the field with regard to its drainage have paid off, significantly. After the Summit Christian game, you could have played another game on that field. I saw pictures of the Carthage game and it looked like a mud hole. It's quite possible that the only reason for us to play another game in Kansas would be due to the opponent or just to stir up some crap on this board. ;-)

LOL I don't think Carthage has put a dime into the upkeep of their stadium or field since the 70's talk about being stuck in a time wrap, hard to compare a cow pasture to manicured greens.

Its been a couple of years since Lamar played at home this late in the year. It will be interesting to see if the rye grass they planted is still green this late. I know allot of volunteer work has gone into that field over the years and it shows.

Good luck to all SWMO teams this weekend !

Looks pretty green, so I'd say the rye is in.

2017? Why will it take that long? Based on the length of time I have seen other facilities built ,if they are truly ready to start now, it seems reasonable that the field and bleachers could be ready for play at the beginning of next season, even if that might mean they may still be in the midst of completing stands, concessions, parking, track, landscaping, etc.

That I couldn't tell you, that's just what I was told, they are building next to the High School, and it is supposed to be very nice, along with a field house and weight rooms.. pretty sure they will start dirt work in January.. all of this is 2nd hand information..

I was going to say...just saw a video of their gym...wow...really nice! No clue if new or not, but very nice facility.

The gym is very nice, I want to say it's about 4 years old now, the while school is very nice, and from the sounds of things the new sports complex will be one of a kind..
