COC Pick Em 2022 - Week 9

OK it comes down to this final week and honestly it seems unlikely anyone is going to gain points this week unless they strike gold on a wild upset since we've got the top 5 playing the bottom 5.

Carl Junction at Republic
Nixa at Ozark
Branson at Webb City
Neosho at Joplin
Carthage at Willard
 
I need a few extra points to win this thing. I will go with a few upsets that I wouldn't normally pick.

CJ- this is upset 1. I am going with a massive let down game from Republic after that Nixa upset.

Nixa

Webb

Neosho- upset 2. I think they will score enough points to beat 1 of the top teams this year.

I'm only a couple points back from the leader so I am having a hard time deciding if I want to be content with a top 10 finish or throw the chips in and see how they fall.
 
Alright this is what I'm doing:

Republic - To me this is the second most likely upset, and it's a close one. CJ should be playing confidently and Republic will be primed for an underwhelming performance after taking down Nixa.

Nixa - Don't really see Ozark getting this one unless this one (very close) loss just collapses Nixa from the inside.

Webb City - They will get this one in a landslide and use it to practice for districts.

Neosho - I don't really think Neosho has much chance here but if I get it I could make a play for the top 3. In my mind this is the most likely upset if there are going to be any this week. Joplin I'm sure is let down from what I'm sure was a crushing loss. So we'll see how they respond.

Carthage - I think Carthage is going to try to get things dialed in before their first district game. If they don't win here then yikes.

Not sure my Neosho gamble is worth it now since enough others have tried the same strategy and now even if they pull the upset it won't be worth the extra points! Guess I should have just done better in the other weeks!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...Ozark bites me in week 7 with a loss and week 8 with a win. I'm a defeated man going with chalk in week 9. No hail mary's to even be attempted.

Republic...I guess if there was a hail mary, this might be it. REPMO feeling themselves after getting Nixa last week. CJ having a pretty darned good d-line. But CJ has been non-competitive against everyone but the cellar dwellers. REPMO is a good deal better than those three. I don't think it's even close really.

Nixa...I can't imagine the Backyard Brawl will be much of a brawl. Ozark has a chance if they use REPMO's formula of pounding away at the suspect Nixa D and keeping their O off the field. Only problem is, Ozark turns it over way too much to be in this one. If they can hang on to the football and maybe even win a turnover battle they might have a chance. Even if all that falls in line, Ozarks D will have issues with that Nixa O. Nixa's JV gets the 4th quarter in this one.

Webb...By a bunch. A whole bunch.

Joplin...Second opportunity at a hail mary, just can't imagine it. Joplins front seven is good, very good. I think they can get stops. Neosho might not be able to stop 11 of us on this board after one practice together.

Carthage...Gall has six TD's...at half...and six bags of popcorn watching the JV in the second half.

No chance any of these are an upset and no reason to lose my #3 spot in my first year picking.
