Coach Conyers

Hickman High School has named its next head football coach, and it's a familiar face around Boone County.

Hallsville's Justin Conyers, who previously coached Battle to a state championship back in 2014, was named the Kewpies' next head football coach Monday afternoon.

Conyers, a Hickman graduate, has been the head football coach in Hallsville since March 2019, and his return to Columbia is a massive move that shakes up the coaching ranks in Boone County.

“I am extremely excited to become the next head coach at Hickman High School," Conyers said in a written statement. "I grew up dreaming of being a Hickman Kewpie and had so much pride in wearing the purple and gold on Friday nights. To have the opportunity to come back home where it all began for me is truly a blessing for my family and me. I cannot wait to get to work building relationships and having the opportunity to lead these young men. Let's Go Kewp Dawgs!”

In his five seasons at Hallsville, Conyers had a 37-21 record and won two district titles. In his first season in Hallsville, Conyers led a seven-game turnaround from a three-win season in 2018 to 10 wins in 2019.

He takes over for Cedric Alvis, who stepped down as Hickman's head coach in October.

No reason they should have troubles winning more games. Good luck to him. He’s apparently going to need it. Uphill I guess.

He is one of the best in the state. Made Battle a powerhouse right away and turned Hallsville around immediately. No reason to expect any different at Hickman.
