THE OZARKS
I know West Plains and Smithville should be pretty solid, this may end up being the best team that WP has had(ever)across the board as far as talent and depth go. And I’m including the 12-1 squad from a few years back that lost to Ladue in the quarters who then beat Webb.
who else are we looking at for Class 4?
does Helias bump to C5? Or probably stay?
does Bolivar beat WP for the 3rd year in a row?
two years ago was in districts to an injury stricken WP squad and last year was during the regular season

That 2018 West Plains team was very good, but never got challenged in the regular season and ran into Ladue who was the worst possible matchup for them. It'll be hard to have a better running back than Brayden Lidgard, better tight ends, better linemen, and especially that defense.

I will say Connor Lair is hell of an athlete.

Helias will be Class 5 per one of their coaches I ran into at another sporting event. MICDS will need to win districts and a quarter final game to get bumped to 5 is my understanding. Smithville and Hannibal will be very good. MICDS has a ton of skill play, but their line will be young, they lost a lot of talent up front.

Helias won state last year. That's 4 points.
In the previous 5 years before that, they failed to get out of districts. That's 0 points.

To be moved up 1 class, you have to have at least 6 points.

Unless their enrollment moves them up (doubtful) they will remain Class 4.

Country Day came in 2nd in Class 4 last year - 3 points.

2018/19 season they came in 2nd in Class 4 - 3 points.

All other years didn't get out of districts.

6 points = up one class, and for at least 3 years.

I think you have the two teams reversed. Helias needs a quarterfinal win in the next 4 years to be bumped up. Country Day is already there with two finals losses.

Here is what I found. based on this, Helias 5, MICDS 4. So if MICDS wins Districts this year, they will be a Class 5 in 2022

Here is how the point system works:

1. Post-season points
a. District Champion: 1 point
b. State 3rd/4th Place: 2 points
c. State 2nd Place: 3 points
d. State Champion: 4 points
IMPORTANT: Points are not cumulative within each season. Each program will only receive the points for the highest finish. If a team wins a state title it is four points only. You do not add district points on top of the championship.

Here are the plateaus for moving up classifications:

2. Point Totals for Re-Classification:
a. 0 – 2 points: remain classified based on raw enrollment
b. 3 – 7 points: re-classified one class above where classified on raw enrollment
c. 8+ points: re-classified two classes above where classified on raw enrollment

I had the fortune to watch the webcast of Bolivar-WP. The Liberators simply got on a second half steam roll and the Zizzers could not stop it. That being said I think Plains vs. Smithville would make a great title game! The area always a mystery to me is STL............

Ok, so both schools will move up. Don't see how Helias can move up but not Country Day with a higher point total.

Starting QB and RB who were both Allstate, a very good group of WR. Loses a big group of lineman and his D1 DE/TE as well as a losing a receiver that played D1 lacrosse, Also the loss of linebacker who walked on at Ohio State and one that is now playing at Wash U I believe, they were both Allstate as wellThat group will be hard to replace, they still will be very good on offense, and playing a difficult schedule with SLUH, LUtheran North and Chaminade on for this year.

Does that mean that every team that either won state or finished second last year will move up, except class 6?

Festus, Hillsboro, John Burroughs, MICDS, and Union IMO are the top five Class 4 teams in the STL area. However, MICDS might be going to Class 5... Union should be the best STL team to challenge for a state championship in Class 4. They were a young team who surprised everybody by getting to the semifinals and even gave MICDS a run for their money in the first half. They have good hurry-up spread offense that caused MICDS' defense quite a few problems. They'll probably get Hillsboro or Festus from District 1 and then who knows. I think they can get back to the semifinals, but beating Hannibal, Smithville, or West Plains is another matter.

MICDS' offensive and defensive line will probably struggle early, but you're right about the athleticism they have coming back. Steve Hall and Winston Moore would be a great running back tandem in the split-back veer they now run with Bouchard as head coach. When they're in the spread they got PJ Behan (4.47 40-yard dash and Brown commit for Lacrosse), Dorian Reddic, Jack Hayes, and Moore will slot in there too. I think their defense could struggle though. They did last year in three 1/2 games against St. Dominic, Hannibal, Union (first half), and Helias.

I still think they got a shot in Week 1 against SLUH since the Jr Bills will most likely air it out with their massive talent at wide receiver and maybe lack there of a run game. Also, they graduated all of their starting defensive linemen. We shall see!

No way MICDS goes 5, they don't have enough points. They have 6 points in last 6 years.

Winston and Steve both have elite speed and have been looked at a ton this summer by D1 schools. If their QB was 3 inches taller he would have D1 offers from all over. He is, from my understanding, getting a lot of Ivy looks. Andrews is the best throwing QB i have seen in a very very long time.

I guess Team camps are no indication of anything.

Everyone should read the 810varsity.com Smithville Warriors preview. Yep I know you don't win titles on paper BUT their returning cast is almost unfair in this region. They also have a very nice Harrisonville preview.

Hmmm...not that impressive at team camp though.

Point being is gauging a teams success 3-4 months from now based off of whether or not they impressed at camp is pointless.
Point being don't talk post season in the pre-season. I guess the school has won a girl's X Country titles recently though?

More than half the people on this board over the years talk about possible post season scenarios over the years Joey, yourself included. But I guess Kearney not making it past the first round of districts last year really has you feeling some kind of way.

'I guess it’s a good thing the post season is played after the regular season and the preseason is played before."

So you are saying the the team camps don't mean anything? The post-season does? About a school that has done what in the post-season? And correction: Kearney was in the District Championship game vs. Smithville last season. So not the first round bro...that is the 3rd round. Right? Lol Just call me the MoRivals fact checker. Somebody has to do it.
