Class 3 #10 Steelville @ Class 3 #7 West County

West county can't advance anywhere. Steelville can get to Miller before they bow out.

Steelville could be a depending on the day toss-up! West County, however, is a different story, if you follow their path on MSHSAA, they very likely could make a good run. There is a team they could meet in sectionals whose record may not show exactly how good they really are, as their location has them playing some large-high-quality opponents during their regular schedule. Could be an interesting quadrant..

West County wins their district unless Smith from AV drops 50+. WC will then play Lift for Life. Their record may not be the best, but if you check out who they've played and the scores they are completely capable of beating WC. Either team will most likely win the Round of 8 game and advance to the final four.

Definitely had the same thoughts on that quadrant.....

I don't think West County will be going anywhere after districts. It's looks to me like they lucked out with a very weak district. I'd bet on Lift for Life crushing whoever comes outs of West County's district. Lift for Life is the only team that has played Union close all season. Union's next closest game is 31 points. I could be wrong, but that's just based on a quick look on MSHSAA.

I agree with you about both schools. I have watched Steelville a few times this season through stream and they seem to lack the consistent mental toughness it takes to beat good quality teams. I know they have beat a few solid teams but it just seems like they have also not shown up a few games or had games that were closer than they should be. I know they are the 1 seed in their District but Licking is playing well it seems like with a win over Sparta last week. That championship could go either way if both schools get there. West County is also in the same boat. They have a stud player but after that they aren't very tough. I have watched a few of their games and looked up their schedule and they just don't seem to play a lot of quality teams. I will be surprised to see them or Steelville make it out of their district and if they do won't go much further than that unless they show me something different in the toughness factor. This time of year teams that are tough win big games and both teams to me lack that at times. Should shake up for a fun week.

I would say that any team that wins their district had a successful season.

I wouldn't say I'd be surprised either of them make it out of their District, they are both the #1 seeds, and Licking had beat Sparta before their 1st match-up with Steelville also. Looking at their MSHSAA scores, I can't see any except 2 losses that really look like they didn't show up...with 15 of their 19 wins being by 15+ and 12 of those 15 by 20+. Steelville will definitely have to buck up on the boards, though because Licking has the "been there" factor, and will be ready to go after them to make up for that 17 point loss earlier in the season. Coach Rissler seems to always have something prepared for this time of the year! Also, never want to discount the 2 teams left in their District, Houston and Cabool have played some great games this year, and are also very well-coached, always room for a good story when it comes playoff time!

As for West County, I think they make it out of District, unless Gracee Smith from Arcadia Valley has something to say about it. She could drop 40+ if she gets hot, I just don't think they can handle the depth of West County at this level. West County moving forward will be dependant on the role players. McRaven will get hers, but who steps up and hits a big shot to give her more space, or can pull down a couple offensive rebounds to take the pressure off of her going to the basket. They've got pieces, it'll just depend on if they can all click in that next game.
