I watched Chaffee play in their jamboree and I know it was early, but after the Payne kid on the mound I don't see them being anything more than above average. They threw a lefty (I think his last name was Tenkoff) and he had decent velocity (hoovering around 80 mph). But he was all over the place. I could see how sometimes he could be effectively wild, but any team with plate discipline won't be phased. At the same jamboree I also saw a solid Portageville team. They very well dominated the jamboree, scoring 20 runs and giving up only 2 in two 4 inning games. They looked defensively sound, they pitched well, and they were probably best on offense. Their problem is that they can't come through when it matters the most. I want to say they lost a 1 run ballgame to Holcomb last year in the district tournament. And Holcomb eventually placed 3rd in the state tournament. This Portageville team is very capable of some great things. But will they continue to underachieve?
