Class 2 Lamar vs Class 1 Valle

This is the kind of Info Im looking for ! What other SE MO gems are in that part of the state ?
There is a 2nd place that has the "Oberle" Sausage. In addition they have a better luncheon selection in addition to the sausage. Brats, Pork steaks, chicken breasts, hamburger and pork sausage burgers....try the latter before passing judgement.
Google "Callier's Meats and Deli" It is located on Hiway 61 (Ste Genevieve Drive) just south of Hiway M that leads to the football field. And I'm sure that the fieldhouse will have lunch items as well.

Oberle's is good but Calliers Meat's is where you want to grab lunch!

It would be great to see more matchups like this in the regular season................I will guess Lamar wins by 21.

This game would have been fun last year, in fact I think Valle would have got them but it will be a blowout this year. Lamar scores over 60 just to make a statement.

You know this how? And what does smack you in the mouth exactly mean?

A 15-yd penalty...;) and possible ejection.

I admit that all of seen of Valle over recent years is watching them in the dome on TV. They have always been impressive in the passing game and I think at the small school level there are very few teams that will be able to match up with a team that can spread the field.

My gut feeling/impression/maybe bias is that Lamar is likely to be the most impressive team Valle has faced in years if not a decade. I do not think the reverse is true for Lamar. Valle is going to show up and hit Lamar with their best shot and if they can sling the ball all over the field they have a shot. If it becomes a game in the trenches though I think Lamar has a pretty big advantage.

I think smack you in the mouth means Lamar is going to pound the rock a bunch until Valle shows that they can stop it. If Valle can, we have a classic. If not, then the game could get out of hand.

When do Valle fans expect people to start arriving at the field on Saturday? Will anyone be doing a little tailgating beforehand?

I almost argued the decade part then remembered I am old......

Valle has the 2nd longest winning streak in the nation behind a Team in NV who Have won 97 games in a row And Valle has won like 53-56 games in a row
I think that team lost a couple of weeks ago and as of now Valle is the leader with 51 games.

After Saturday The " Who has the longest winning streak" debate won't matter. It won't be Valle Catholic

Strafford a couple of years ago was a team that had the speed to match Lamar, but not the tenacity. Many in SWMO thought Strafford was a Class 2 Championship contender, if they could past Lamar. While the speed to match Lamar was there, the physicality was not. If you cannot match Lamar's physicality in the trenches, you will struggle. Lamar's speed can play with anyone Class 3 and down, possibly most Class 4 schools. Valle will need to match the physicality of Lamar to compete.

I don't know who will win but not giving either of these teams a chance is crazy. Both have proven they are capable of playing great football over a long period of time.
Lamar 35
Valle 32

I'm curious about the reasons for Lamar's ascendance into a power program. Is it the coach, the system, the scheme (I don;t even know what they run on either side of the ball), a great run of athletes for a class 2 school, all of the above, or other things? Are they a large class 2?

On the large end of c2 helps but great coaching and a fantastic weight room program

Yes yes yes yes and yes.

I would encourage everyone to watch them online Saturday if you haven't seen Lamar play. Besides the fact that it will be quality football on both sides of the ball, you have to see Lamar's dual QB offense. This isn't a rotation of QBs. Both are lined up behind the center in shotgun formation, and either could take the snap. With a slot back on each side, with one going in motion before the snap and the other coming the opposite way after the snap, add in a series of fakes and misdirections and you have a situation where one defender is left having to stop a really good athlete, assuming that defender stuck with his assignment in the first place. And when they run a sweep, there will be two or more cattle pulling and blocking in front of the ball carrier. It's a thing of beauty, really.

5 titles in a row - it obviously works.

The coaches have instilled an environment of dedication, hard work, and unity in the community and the football team. You outwork your opponent, not just on every single play, but every single weight lifting rep, every agility drill, and every facet of preparation. Success does not come by longing for it or hoping for it, but getting a culture of buying into a program by young men and their families. Most coaches preach this, but few get the buy in of athletes and their parents that schools like Lamar does.

Lamar seems to always have good athletes, it has just taken off recently because of the culture and buy in.
They've had a crazy run of athletes and big lineman. They've had quite a few kids that are playing college football right now, and that doesn't happen at the Class 2 level that often. With that being said, they do a great job in the weight room and have a great scheme on both sides of the ball that compliments their kids. It will interesting to see how they are in the next couple of years. The Freshman down through junior high are not as good as they have been during this run. I'm wondering if they can keep the train rolling.

We will find out how good now that their best DT got hurt with a minute left trying to pitch the shutout against their last opponent.

Valle rolls.

Damn Veer You're high Lol.. Lamar by Turbo in the 4th... Lamar Pee Wee runs the same system the high School does.. Learning early And Often would be a big help imo.
