I don't agree with it....who comes up with these votes? Who even knew (besides myself) the Belle Tigers? Out of nowhere they ended up in the State Semifinals in St. Louis....To me, my hat goes out to him for getting that far with only the 3rd year of having soccer as a high school sport over there....everybody knew a Whitfield or a John Burroughs would get that far, so why give John Burroughs coach the Coach of the Year? Besides, its easy to coach when you have players to recruit...lolz

I agree with you gadzoda no private school coach should ever get coach of the year in any sport.

Gadzoda - If you have proof that Scott McDoniel recruits then by all means take it to MSHSAA but until then keep these baseless accusations to yourself.

This private school recruits business is so old. The Belle tigers made it to the final four and they should be proud of themselves, they made a decent showing against some good teams but the fact of the matter is that schools that are in metro areas, regardless of being public or private will continue to be dominate because of the opportunities that come with living in a metro area (i.e. being able to play year round with club teams).

West Plains had a VERY successful run this year in part due to the fact that several of their players made the commitment to go to Springfield to play on club teams and look at the difference it made.

Also, the coaches vote on coach of the year so if you have a problem with their vote, take it up with them all their names are located at the MO Soccer Coaches Associated Website - mosoccercoach.com.
