Traded scores to start. 2 stops by lamar to end the quarter but fumbled away a golden opportunity on the cj 3
56-27. Took ryan devore almost 3 quarters to figure out he needed to start playin

Cj might be overrated . Id say Kearney, Harrisonville , and a few others would beat them but dont downplay how good Lamar is. They would be a top 5 2a schoolQUOTE]
I disagree. Appears it doesn't matter what they do. Webb wasn't supposed to take a beating to Rock either, but it took playing before people realized the class system has put blinders on us as to the potential for a much smaller school to actually be as good as the "big boys"'. Probably true for most schools but not those who build a real system. Lamar could play with anyone in this state and keep there chins up. Might get kicked hard against those big schools with a great system but hey, every now and then we all do. When it comes down to it, they are still high school kids out there. Some just work very hard and have great coaches. This lamar team would eventually run into a defense with kids that hit you once and your on the ground. Not the case with CJ tonight, who tried arm tackling Lamar almost every play. They were over rated. Look at their schedule...it happens. But its not like Lamar had a difficult night. They could play up against much better opponents till they finally realize why they need to enjoy class two. They are going to dominate it for a long time. Really enjoyed watching them three years in a row. They would kick ass up to about 90% of class 4 schools, maybe more.Hats off to Lamar, but they wouldn't be a top 5 class 4 program. CJ was not a legit #2. They hadn't (and still haven't) played a class 4 team all year.
Everyone (and after tonight's result frankly justifiably so.........very enjoyable reading) is paying attention to C2 Lamar but nobody on here seems to talk about C3 machine Maryville..............another smaller school that could be a real headache for many C5-C6 schools.I disagree. .I totally agree with Zou. What has CJ done that proves they are even a top ten team in Class 4? Lamar without any question is an outstanding program, without question the best in Class 2 the last 5 years. But beating CJ doesnt mean they would be a top 5 in Class 4. CJ played and beat one class 4 team last year, West Plains and won by 7 then got shlacked by WEBB. Was West Plains a top 5-10 team last year? Lets remember Lamar lost to CJ last year. There are Class 4 teams out there like Helias whom have bad to very bad records but lets face it, they aint playing East Newton to get 60-0 wins and build the hype. Going by just the numbers this Lamar team isnt as dominating as the last couple yet because they beat CJ they would be a top Class 4 team, come on man....
I got the WEBB could be a top 5 Class 6 team beating ROCK the way they did last year and ROCK making the dance but incase anyones missed it the ROCK vs East Newton this year might be a great game. I also read these huge numbers put out for Lamars roster, I heard they have 58 on varsity. The bigger Class 4 teams have close to a hundred, some well over. Does anyone think Lamar could beat Maryville. They are undefeated the last 3 years and only have 3 losses in the last 5 years and two of them being in the State Championships in Class 3 to Richmond and a complete drubbing by Class 4 Savannah 41-7 who in turn got beat by Kearney who got beat by Hvillle who got beat by WEBB. So with that NO Lamar would not be anywhere near a top 5 Class 4 team but neither is CJ. Im guessing Lamar is stoked enough being the Class 2 Champions and rightfully so, thats what classification they are in.
Say what you want about Maryville but their phone was ringing, too for 2016-2017 and they didn't return the call.I totally agree with Zou. Very, very, very physical running team yet again up in Maryville. They were my easy preseason #1 in C3 and would expect them to absolutely steamroll to the title next month..
.3peat, Maryville is not undefeated the past 3 years. They lost 69-23 in the playoffs to Oak Grove last year. That said Maryville is a very dominant program. I haven't seen Maryville this year to venture a guess if Lamar would beat them or not but Lamar might not be as deep and talented as some bigger schools but I watched a team last night that was extremely well coached and prepared and wanted it a lot more. I actually thought watching the game that CJ has more talent but Lamar out thought, out worked and outplayed them.
Maryville probably wants no part of Lamar after the spoofs only squeaked by a 7-7 Lamar team in the 2009 Class 2 playoffs, 21-7 (not saying I'd guarantee a Lamar win or anything; it would be a great game to watch...)Say what you want about Maryville but their phone was ringing, too for 2016-2017 and they didn't return the call.
Why is it so hard to accept that the best class 2 program in the state couldn't be considered a possible top 5 or top 10 team in Class 4, but yet most of us believe and have witnessed that the best class 4 program in the state is easily considered one of the top 5 (or better) teams in the whole state? (The best team in the state in my opinion)
Congrats again to Lamar not only for their dominant performance last night and Big 8 title, but for the program you have become.
(By the way 3peat, CJ was 4-1 last year against schools class 4 and larger, losing only to Webb like everyone does; and now 6-1 past two years against class 4 and larger)
