I just wanted to sound almost as ridiculous as the can "Joplin beat DeSmet?"

I know, LN has to survive the District 4 gauntlet, first. The guy coaching them has been there a few times.

This is the best team DeSmet has had since 2009 when they blew through everyone and was undefeated until the semi finals. They had to go on the road to Blue Springs when Miller was there and got smacked (then BS got smacked by Haz Central at state).

We cant just close down a whole class as talented as class 6 that would be foolish.

That being said the only "weakness" I guess that I seen with DeSmet is that their QBs arent really that good to me. They have an excellent group of WRs but they struggle to get the ball to them. They play 2 QBs because neither has separated. One is commited to an Ivy league school I saw.

This usually never matters though because they have 3 big physical backs.

Hazlewood C 35–24 over Blue Springs in 2009 in the state final.

Blue Springs beat DeSmet 35-5 that year. Rockhurst beat Blue Springs worse that year than Hazelwood Central did.

Yea my point its not many years that Class 6 isnt competitive or has upsets. I actually wouldnt be surprised if the CBC/Desmet rematch was a closer game.

The problem with Class 6 is district 4 has seven of the top 11 teams in Class 6. So even if they win the district they are likely beaten up, injured and worn out by the time they make it through to even give someone like DeSmet or CBC their best game.

They also will be battle tested and used to playing good comp. But even though majority of the top teams are in KC, they are still a few steps below the 2 St Louis teams.

In STL it may be a while before we see a good Kirkwood or Haz Central team again. All the good players are flocking to the private schools instead. Gonna be a lot of CBC Desmet in Class 6.

Meanwhile in KC, Bishop Miege and St. Thomas are soaking up private talent that could go to Rock, along with a few emerging smaller private schools.

But Severeno will be gone next year. A new regime--and more aggressive recruiting by the booster club (right Bosko?) and Rock could get themselves back in position.
