Brady to be suspended first half of season

LOL whatever. Might get two games but for what? He says he had nothing to do with it and his numbers were better the second half after the 1.5 or 2 lbs of air was added. Dont understand how you can suspend someone on a "I think they did wrong". Regardless stupid rule. Here takes these balls, scuff em rub em do whatever you want to make them how you want them just dont let out less than 13 or 14 lbs of air, STUPID rule.

The NFL has very poor leadership to let this very small situation to get out of hand. They do not know
how to deal with losers voicing their hate opinion on various boards. A 15 yard penalty to start the second
half. Or off setting penalties for Indy have some underflated balls as well. If I was Brady and I was innocent, I would do some really big time slander type law suits against the NFL, Wells boys, and ESPN.
The track record of the NFL loosing these type things are pretty good.

He is being suspended because he refused to cooperate with the investigation. Under league rules that's detrimental to the NFL. If he would have turned over his cell phone and email as requested probably wouldn't have looked as ba

1) This issue is stupid and not that serious because it isn't injury related. (Like the Raiders used to tape things around their arms after they were inspected by officials. Madden admitted it, IF YOU CAN'T see it in the film--obviously they did.) 2) Agree that the cover-up is the bigger violation. 3) So give him a one game suspension for directing staff to do this...which he did, if you read the texts.

I'm with Brady on this one. First, no one is looking at my cell phone or emails without a warrant. Second, the NFL is looking for a scapegoat in this fiasco in order for goodell to avoid another botched investigation. Why would Brady offer himself up as a sacrifice?

6 months from now you will say you were against Brady from the moment he didn't cooperate.

If they are going to suspend someone for maybe being involved in something as petty as air pressure in the ball, they are really reaching.
As far as cooperating with the league, why should he cooperate with a witch hunt after him? Hillary destroyed her server. Why should Brady do any less? Both are guilty or they would show otherwise but you can't be expected to convict yourself in America.

The rule should be eliminated. Each team should provide whateve balls they want as long as they are regulation size. Bring back stickem too.

You are nothing if not consistant. You constantly pass of illegal acts and cheating as no big deal and are critical of any institution punishing anyone for something you feel is not that big a deal. Don't like the rules, don't complain when they are enforced, try to get them chanced but accept your punishment in the mean time

That is the key phrase, regulation size. The balls that patriots would be bringing would not meet that standard, since air pressure is factored into the "regulation size"

His coach already threw him under the bus at his original press conference.

“I have no explanation for what happened...” I honestly never touched a game ball. It’s not something I have any familiarity with on that. Again, I was completely and totally unaware of any of this that we’re talking about in the last couple of days until Monday morning....Tom’s personal preferences on his footballs are something that he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide...”

A) No one has proven Brady did anything.

B) I'm not excusing the act if the balls were intentionally deflated.

C) Your post has absolutely nothing to do with anything I said.

D) Deflated balls have absolutely nothing to do with the Pats' success.

E) You've fallen for exactly what the NFL wants. Take focus away from the sheer incompetence at the top and focus on the sideshow.

You need to read the analysis of patriot fumble rates by the folks at 538. It has made a difference.

A) In fact they can prove that Brady disrupted the investigation by not conducted by the NFL, his employer

B) You are excusing the act because you don't think he should be punished

C) The post was in direct relation to your post about Brady

D) If the footballs had nothing to do with their success, then why did they do it? Why did they cover it up? Why is there a standard for the air pressure in footballs?

E) I am going to support any institution who tries to keep their employees to high standard and who punishes them for cheating and lying to try to get away with it

See I can make lists too, but you can not get away from the fact that you are not as objective as you like to be. If you like the team or the player you will excuse and dismiss their wrong doings and if you don't you will find all the stats that support our personal opinions. Even now your first instinct is to deny this accusation but even that proves how subjective you are because you can't even look at your own posts and realize how bias you are

A) You have a major typo, because this makes no sense.

B) Projection. Couldn't give a rip about Brady. No one has proven he did anything wrong.

C) No it wasn't. Literally addressed nothing I said even tangentially.

D) No one has proven the Patriots knowingly did anything wrong. No one has proven they've covered anything up. Couldn't tell you, but if you want to say that deflated balls caused the pats to crush the colts, well, I'll have what you're smoking.

E) Oh, like the league that bungled the Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, and AP situations? The same league that has had their punishments overturned again and again in court? The same league that destroyed the Pats practice film of the jets for no particular reason? The same league that couldn't get the Ray Rice elevator video before TMZ? Is that the institution that you support? Is that the institution that you believes holds its employees to a high standard?

Mute point. Couldnt one retaliate by saying after the balls were inflated to where they were legal after half why did the Pats have better numbers and more points? Could the less fumbles not be because if you fumble Bill puts your butt on the bench while other teams like my CHIEFS get players like Hillis whom fumbled on a horrendous pace? Why did the CHIEFS lead the league for years in turnovers? Did we overinflate the Footballs of our competitors or was that a focus in their practices?

I dont understand why a QB can rub, scuff do whatever to the ball but cant change the air pressure. I realize its a rule Im just asking why. Players like Brees for instance and maybe Brady have smaller hands than saying Cam Newton. Therefore Cam could grip a FATTER or more INFLATED ball. I think 4 games is fair if they can prove Brady did it and covered it up because it is a rule. With that I think the rule is goofy.

Why doesn't the NFL supply the balls and have their own people do the inflating. I'm sure they can afford a flunky or two at 8 different venues every week. Why would you want each team providing there own balls if it's so easy to cheat on rule 2?

1. Take some statistics classes
2. Read the research from 538. These people are brainiacs who love sports.
3. Open your feeble mind.
4. It's moot, not mute.
5. Have a nice day.

Ray Rice got fewer games than Brady. Amazing.

The NFL already admitted they blew the ray rice suspension months ago. The fact is the ravens released him and teams refused to pick him up so he was really suspended for the rest of the season. And his case really isn't relevant.

It certainly speaks to the incompetency of the NFL's leadership.

The league does supply the balls; they give each team an allotment of balls in advance of every game so that the teams (or more specifically the QBs) can "work them in" the way they like (every ball is then inspected by the refs prior to kickoff, including air pressure...)

...what the Patriots were doing was accessing the balls AFTER the refs had checked them in order to deflate them below regulation pressure.

No your point is MUTE. You've repeated the same thing for months. I thought you were the guy that always said stats suck but yet as usual give a statistic as your basis of proving guilt. Schottenheimer preached being plus in the turnover department and focused on not turning the ball over maybe Bill does as well. As I said last time you gave your moot point which should be "muted" Wes Welker had less fumbles and drops in Denver per touch than he had in New England. Funny they've done it forever but was just now caught which by your post is what your saying.

READ THE REPORT!!!!!!
THE RULE WAS CHANGED IN 2006 to give teams access to the footballs.
READ THE ANALYSIS.
This has nothing to do with coaching.
As if one coach has a magical way to teach
people to hang onto the ball. Stop it.

The first thing you have gotten correct on this thread is that my first point does not make any sense as it is written. That is what I get for starting an idea and then walking away before I finish it. I mean to point out that he did not allow his employer to conduct the investigation the way it needed to because he refused to turn over his text messages. If nothing else, you can agree that the NFL can prove that case.

Just so everyone's clear:

The fact that members of the Patriots organization did indeed deflate balls in hardly in doubt (they have texts messages between equipment guys essentially stating as much); they only thing that's truly in dispute is how much knowledge Brady had of these happenings (and reasonable person knows that these "happenings" would not be happening at all without Brady's consent...)

Brady gets 4 games, Pats get a million $ fine and the loss of a #1 and #5 pick....I guess Kraft isn't going to be getting that apology he demanded.

If just a little bit of the smugness is wiped off of Kraft and Brady's faces for one second, I will be happy.

You seriously dont agree some players fumble more than others? You seriously dont agree some coaches bench players that fumble and other coaches dont? You dont believe some coaches put an emphasis on ball control more than others? Why did the CHIEFS lead the league in takeaway giveaway % for almost a decade that Marty was there. Were they just freakin lucky that long?

And I never questioned the RULE or when it was changed I laughed at you using stats as your key point of arguing since you usually mouth posts using stats in them. Brady also doesnt throw ints, do you think they glue little magnets in the ball threads and in their recievers gloves? Brady is in trouble for not turning his cell phone over why should he the NFL isnt the Court Of Law. If my work said we need to look at your messages Id tell them to piss up a rope. I guess you would just hand yours over?

These guys do statistical analysis.
They don't just throw out stats like certain posters and try to prove inane things like Tom Brady is a better runner than Bo Jackson.

Cow: I know Rice was initialy suspended TWO games but didnt that change to INDEFINATE after the video came out?... If that is right, how is Brady's suspension more than what Rice got?

As far as the Brady punishment, I really think its about right.

Cow doesn't care about anything that doesn't support his stance. "Don't confuse me with facts" kinda thing

Yes, it was changed after Roger Goodell saw the second video (supposedly). However, the facts were already known about what happened in the elevator. Rice told Goodell everything before the second video. The second video changed nothing apart from confirming what Goodell already knew.

As far as the Brady punishment, how cowardly is the NFL to release the report (which they knew the details of for weeks before), waiting a few days to gauge public reaction, then suspending him with no hard evidence? Goodell is an absolute joke.

I agree 100% that it was cowardly, but even given my disdain for Goodell, I have to say that this tactic is by no means unique in today's twitter age (nobody stands for anything anymore other than what twitter tells them to).

It goes to the heart of the issue: Goodell should mot be the arbiter of punishment. There should be a committee.
