Thats the rumor. But remember Womack was "retiring" last year too. So I could see him coming back to just coach when the fall gets here.Benson retiring?
I guess we’ll see. He hit 400 wins this year if I’m not mistaken so who knows. He might have decided to hang it up.Thats the rumor. But remember Womack was "retiring" last year too. So I could see him coming back to just coach when the fall gets here.
Why would they want him? Time to try something else.Thats the rumor. But remember Womack was "retiring" last year too. So I could see him coming back to just coach when the fall gets here.
Maybe so. But he has not really done a bad job. They have not been blessed with a lot of basketball talent in the last few years. A lot of football kids playing basketball. Why would they want him? Time to try something else.
Maybe encourage the kids to play in the summer, and quit telling them not to train outside the district. Just a thought. I sat in the WP section when they played a game this year and got killed. The parents were wondering why they can’t compete. The opponent had 6-10 kids that play year round. WP has one. And he’s a freshman. I told them that’s why. You can’t play 6 months a year and compete. If being mediocre at basketball is OK, don’t make a change.Maybe so. But he has not really done a bad job. So you are saying that the head coach was telling kids to not play basketball in the summer? I find that really hard to believe.Maybe encourage the kids to play in the summer, and quit telling them not to train outside the district. Just a thought. No. But he was actively telling them to not train outside of practice during the season. Like I said—if parents are ok with being mediocre, no need to make a change. If he’s not ENCOURAGING the players to play in the summer, he’s ok with mediocrity. May be a match made in heaven. So you are saying that the head coach was telling kids to not play basketball in the summer? I find that really hard to believe.
The Zizzers were 22-6 in 2018-19 and I believe they were the cochamps with the Poo that year.Hey, Benson beat Kickapoo (co-OC Champs in 2019) and got West Plains's first-ever win at Glendale.
Rogersville just finished 26-4 and got to quarterfinals of class 4 and beat Class 3 state champion New Madrid by double digits and didn’t have 1 starter that plays basketball outside of the high school basketball season. You can win high school games with a good coach and some athletes.Maybe encourage the kids to play in the summer, and quit telling them not to train outside the district. Just a thought. Which doesn’t WP have?Rogersville just finished 26-4 and got to quarterfinals of class 4 and beat Class 3 state champion New Madrid by double digits and didn’t have 1 starter that plays basketball outside of the high school basketball season. Not sure who would want a job where a coach gets fired after a 22-6 record. That has to be most wins in a season in a while i would think.Tipton boys is now open. 22-6 last year and return a solid core.
Holy crapRyan Fick is leaving BO and taking over at Capital City.
Which doesn’t WP have?
Didn't their all-state player play for Bradley Beal Elite?Rogersville just finished 26-4 and got to quarterfinals of class 4 and beat Class 3 state champion New Madrid by double digits and didn’t have 1 starter that plays basketball outside of the high school basketball season. Scanlon was/is a major jackwad to everyone, including his players, is “what happened”. This job is down to 2 candidates, either will win there with that returning talent, would be hard not to. The Allen kid will be best player in KC and maybe the State next year.https://twitter.com/MissouriScoop

**Breaking News** Oak Park High School has posted their Head Basketball position. Oak Park had their season ended by eventual State Champs Staley, 49-56, in the District Finals. Coach Brennan Scanlon lead the Northmen to a 26-2 record this past season. No word on "what happened" but this is definitely one of the most coveted jobs in the state for basketball!
Jackwad? Not to everyone. He is demanding and he is a winner wherever he goes. They will get rid of him as a coach, but not a teacher? Why keep a jackwad in the classroom then? Something is up there. Sounds to me like he made the wrong person up set.Scanlon was/is a major jackwad to everyone, including his players, is “what happened”. Yeah, I don't think Brennan's going to win any popularity contests...but I'd think the OP folks might remember they were really bad before Brennan and have been pretty salty since. Like 80-124 the 8 yrs before he got there and 114-67 the 7 yrs since. Take more than a subjective opinion to make that change.Jackwad? Not to everyone.
