Boys Head Coaching Jobs

Thats the rumor. But remember Womack was "retiring" last year too. So I could see him coming back to just coach when the fall gets here.
I guess we’ll see. He hit 400 wins this year if I’m not mistaken so who knows. He might have decided to hang it up.
I don’t think he’s done a bad job there at all, but he hasn’t had many seasons there that would be considered “good” by most schools standards.
Barr didn’t do well there either.

Hargrove I believe was the last coach that did really well with what he had there and that was 20 years ago.

Why would they want him? Time to try something else.
Maybe so. But he has not really done a bad job. They have not been blessed with a lot of basketball talent in the last few years. A lot of football kids playing basketball.

Maybe encourage the kids to play in the summer, and quit telling them not to train outside the district. Just a thought. I sat in the WP section when they played a game this year and got killed. The parents were wondering why they can’t compete. The opponent had 6-10 kids that play year round. WP has one. And he’s a freshman. I told them that’s why. You can’t play 6 months a year and compete. If being mediocre at basketball is OK, don’t make a change.

So you are saying that the head coach was telling kids to not play basketball in the summer? I find that really hard to believe.

No. But he was actively telling them to not train outside of practice during the season. Like I said—if parents are ok with being mediocre, no need to make a change. If he’s not ENCOURAGING the players to play in the summer, he’s ok with mediocrity. May be a match made in heaven.

Hey, Benson beat Kickapoo (co-OC Champs in 2019) and got West Plains's first-ever win at Glendale.
The Zizzers were 22-6 in 2018-19 and I believe they were the cochamps with the Poo that year.
If I’m correct, in regular season conference play, both teams had 1 conference loss and WP beat the Poo in the head to head matchup.

They had one loss that year that wasn’t single digits and that was very early in the season.

Rogersville just finished 26-4 and got to quarterfinals of class 4 and beat Class 3 state champion New Madrid by double digits and didn’t have 1 starter that plays basketball outside of the high school basketball season. You can win high school games with a good coach and some athletes.

Which doesn’t WP have?

Eldo has athletes... but they have absolutely burned through coaches lately. I think this will be the 4th in 4 years

WP lost their best player to injury before the season started. Hafer, a 6’4 G/F and a senior.

Had shoulder surgery and was ruled out for the season. Played injured the majority of his senior year on the football field and needed to heal up before walking on at Missouri State for this next season.

Didn't their all-state player play for Bradley Beal Elite?

**Breaking News** Oak Park High School has posted their Head Basketball position. Oak Park had their season ended by eventual State Champs Staley, 49-56, in the District Finals. Coach Brennan Scanlon lead the Northmen to a 26-2 record this past season. No word on "what happened" but this is definitely one of the most coveted jobs in the state for basketball!

He couldn’t win at Camdenton or Conway and he only won at Crane cause it wasn’t his team in the 1st place…..what makes Campbell think he can win at Mansfield

Scanlon was/is a major jackwad to everyone, including his players, is “what happened”. This job is down to 2 candidates, either will win there with that returning talent, would be hard not to. The Allen kid will be best player in KC and maybe the State next year.

Jackwad? Not to everyone. He is demanding and he is a winner wherever he goes. They will get rid of him as a coach, but not a teacher? Why keep a jackwad in the classroom then? Something is up there. Sounds to me like he made the wrong person up set.

Yeah, I don't think Brennan's going to win any popularity contests...but I'd think the OP folks might remember they were really bad before Brennan and have been pretty salty since. Like 80-124 the 8 yrs before he got there and 114-67 the 7 yrs since. Take more than a subjective opinion to make that change.

If you're going to treat people like dogs, you better be able to make it out of districts! I'd rather go 15-13 with a guy who treats people like human beings than go 25-3 (lose in districts every year) with a guy who treats like like they're dirt.
