Bolivar got what they deserved. I hope the only conference that can take them is the sca.

Get the puke bucket ready for that one! Oof.Would be a long drive to thayer for tuesday night volleyball games
Why is West Plains even in the OC??? It is 2hrs to its nearest conference opponent!! wonder if there is any other team in a conference that is that far away?
No, That was an honest question. I do not even follow any OC schools now that Joplin in in the COC. How did that even come about? Who thought it was a good idea? Geographically it makes no sense for the rest of the conference. So is the question actually, why would someone drive that far to get spanked or?
So, what works well for West Plains is more important than what works for everyone else in the conference? Bolivar would be a much better fit geographically speaking in the OC than west plains. Simply replace one class4 school for another class4 school.Well, there aren’t any schools West Plains size in their immediate area so in a lot of sports, they were already playing a lot of these schools on a yearly basis anyways, not including district play so the only difference now is that they have to so idk what else to say about that.

Maybe the Ozark Confrence should consider this.Believe me, if the majority of the conference wanted WP out, they would be out.

The Big 8 is pretty spread out by distance and by size, not a fan of the new Big 8 or 14...lol Seneca is dropping and is close to being Class 2 with Lamar. Mac Cty has nearly 3 times the enrollment of at least 4 of the schools, Bolivar would be up there close behind Mac Cty. I thought the old Big 8 was pretty competitive in all sports. Is a Nevada, Bolivar, Marshfield, Monett, McDonald County conference concept too spread out? Maybe a Reed Springs or other Big 8 schools nearing larger class 3 or even class 4 status be included also?
Its the WP athletes who have the tough gig! For each varsity sport they have to make that long distance trip to half of the conference schools every year. Whereas, their conference opponents make ONE trip EVERY OTHER year to WP.Why is West Plains even in the OC??? Yeah Seneca & MV could be class 2 in the future dropping enrollments at both places. Aurora & Cassville are solid class 3 schools. Rogersville & Reeds are growing could be on the bubble for moving up in the future? Nevada really has not gown and they are down over 200 kids from their high enrollment back in the 90's so not sure what is going on with them. Marshfeild, Mac County are going to be solid class 4 schools. Monett while not a solid class 4 yet, I don't see us losing kids so we are probable class 4 to stay. Lamar and EN probable going to be class 2 for the long haul. I don't know a thing about Hollisters growth? However I think the big 8 has a nice mix of schools right now and I don't see anybody complaining.
I am interested to see if CJ will continue to compete in the COC, their youth football programs numbers have been going down and they cannot even field two teams the last two years, so can they sustain what they had? They are lucky this year as it looks Ozark and Nixa may be really bad so they could sneak into the middle of the pack in football, but I think it will be a struggle for them to finish above .500 this year. In class 4 it is all about depth...we have seen this year they lost one player and it has really hurt them.
The thing about CJ is it is now obvious they never had a 2nd string RB. There is literally no one on the roster now that can play varsity RB except if you move Kennedy there. The Big 8 has had some great programs over the years for sure. Other than Lamar dominating it, there has been a lot of parity over the years among the other schools.
CJ had a starter and a non-starter quit after the WC game i heard. Someone on here argued that they didn't, but i asked a parent again today and they said yes they both quit. I kind of felt Buck threw the kids under the bus on that one with him comments in the paper. Besides, Weston getting hurt, CJ lost a lot on their line to graduation, you could count losing Wall as losing two players on the D line...lol!

It would take an whole lot for Reeds Spring to be in any kind of danger of moving up... Their enrollment was shrinking slightly until recently and still not growing much... You are right about Rogersville. They actually were class 4 and moved back down last cycle.Yeah Seneca & MV could be class 2 in the future dropping enrollments at both places. Word on the street is Hannibal and Smith-Cotton are joining up with the Columbia and Jefferson City schools.
I've said before that Rolla moving on and being replaced by Bolivar would be fine with me.
Having West Plains move on would make more sense. Rolla Has 3 conference opponents that are within an hour drive. West plains is almost 2hrs from their closest conference school.I've said before that Rolla moving on and being replaced by Bolivar would be fine with me.
This is West Plains 17th year in the conference.
Started in the fall of 2002.
If it was that big of an issue, it would have already been addressed and they would be out of the conference.
I see no reason for them to be booted to make room for a Bolivar program that has ostracized themselves from being in any conference. Not to mention, West Plains enrollment is on par with most of the conference whereas Bolivars or Marshfields would not be with the exception of maybe Hillcrest.
I'm not from WP, nor do I live there, nor am I alumni lol

Rolla is a good two hours from Springfield. WP is closer and feels like southwest Missouri. Rolla (halfway to St. Louis) isn't a good fit. Yes, for Waynesville, Camdenton, & Lebanon it's okay, but not for the Springfield schools or West Plains. Would be that big of a deal for them to join up with the new Columbia/Jefferson City conference?
