BO vs Hallsville

2 years ago, in the Class 2 semifinals, Blair Oaks traveled to Bowling Green in what many in Bowling Green considered the biggest game in Bowling Green history. They knew who BO was and knew how big of a task it would be to take them down. BG packed their stadium 3 times over. BO fans traveled quite well as well. BO won 66-48 in a Dylan Hair showcase.
2 years later, during BG's senior day for football, several seniors were asked what their biggest thrill during their time at BG. was 5 of those seniors noted that playing Blair Oaks 2 years prior was their biggest thrill in the semifinals in 2022.
Why am I talking about that when BO is playing Hallsville. Well, it's simple, Hallsville needs to enjoy the moment as a team and as a town.
Final score will be about 66-7 or 59-12 if Hallsville catches a break and actually finds the endzone. No exaggeration. BO defense gets free donuts if they are able to shut out the other team. So far they have done it 5 times this season. Hallsville is playing their best ball by far right now but BO makes their living of making good teams look bad by taking what you do best away from you. Good Luck Hallsville, bring the entire town, make a ton of noise, pack that stadium 3 times over so they all can enjoy the moment but it will be over before halftime on Saturday.

We are not given the option to pick. I am sure they are working on trying to prepare to take on Valle for the 2nd time this season. It was not pretty the first time around.
The only reason I knew about that information about their senior day is from simulcasting their senior day game matchup against Valle a month ago and hearing the PA say that over the feed prior to the start of the game. I was shocked but more I thought about it, it made sense. That season BG had a huge offensive weapon to go along with their stout defense. They fully believed they could win. Honestly, they did very well and it was a great game (if you liked offense). They enjoyed the moment and kept their heads high no matter the final result. Great atmosphere.
Bowling Green played in a state title game in 09, pretty sure that would be a bigger game then playing in a semifinal
I'm not sure if what he said is true or not, but I can read that it's talking about the BG seniors of this year. I'm no rocket scientist, but I don't think those seniors would've been on the 09 team...
Those seniors were not in high school and would not have played football at BG in 2009. I don't think it would be wise for 5 year olds to be playing football in a high school championship game.
Yes it is true. I heard it myself. I was very surprised to hear that from the public announcer but yes it is true.
I believe that is a question for other Tri-County Conference members and Maryville. The teams BO plays every year.
Ah yes, LN also decided to use BO as a measuring stick. They got their rear ends beat for a few years then last year and this year they got better and played a more complete game and beat not only BO but as you might have seen... Cardinal Ritter as well. So I am sure you saw that. Those 2 wins are the only 2 wins any of the STL private schools had against them since John Burroughs in 2015.
So i think you're missing the point.

Turboman sounds like to me that Hallsville Maryville and Odessa should just pack up and begin wrestling and playing hoops...
We would hate to see Blair Oaks suffer the same fate as CBC....
My fault, I thought it was about the Bowling Green program in general not about this year's seniors.
No, we play the games. Maryville always surprises teams even though BO has played them once already. I don't know enough about Odessa. Though Hallsville, I do know enough about them. They are getting better now than they started out this year as with all teams but they will need to play lights out to have any chance to keep it close. They know it. Good luck to them. Enjoy the moment and bring everyone. That is how you give your team a chance. Its just quite a tall task to be able to accomplish even with BO having 2 all state players out.
Don't confuse every BO fan to be like Turbo. I guarantee you Coach LePage has a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Thomas and Coach Webb and is not looking past anyone at this point. As for Hallsville, after the ending of the last one, I personally hope he hangs 80 on them.
who said I didn't have respect for them? LOL. Of course I have respect for them. My thoughts are realistic opinions such as everyone else here. The BO community has respect for all of the teams and community they face as do I. I enjoy my trips to all of the games I attend no matter the location and who is playing and I am not talking about just BO games but numerous other teams as well. Don't classify me as a fan either. Unfortunately I don't have that option anymore with the requirements and job that I do. I am a fan of hs football in general. I think some of you all read me completely a bit off course just a bit. I take personal responsibility in giving my opinion that was a bit more focused and blunt. I know better than that but I thought we could give our opinions and as such I did.
Maybe you know Coach Webb personally, but I don't think tweeting at a coach of his caliber telling him to bring tissues is...respectful. Just my opinion though.
If you pull for BO to win, you are a fan. Unless you are on staff there. There are referees that do their job and do it well, but are still fans of a certain school.
I pull for several teams to win. I more importantly pull for quality great games, memorable moments, and a great atmosphere not only for the teams and their players but for their community as a whole. All honest media members are the same way when it comes to that. They cheer for everyone involved. When I see a great catch or throw or both by the opposing team, I am going to react with respect and enthusiasm for them.
I know several refferes as well in that matter. Great individuals that give their time to numerous communities around the state.
Good luck to all teams not just Hallsville and Blair Oaks. This is a wonderful time of the year and I enjoy watching and tracking all of these schools as they look to progress towards state.
After reading this, I would echo what 65TPT said (love the name by the way).... We all aren't as cocky out in Wardsville as Turbo. If I was an opposing coach, I'd have Turbo quotes hung all over the locker room. Just a silly 'fan' ego at this point.
You probably aren't doing the kids or coaching staff any favors. I am sure they appreciate that.
If they use it and Saturday turns out to be a close fought game from both sides. I am all for it. Was it meant to be ammunition? nope. Does Hallsville need any additional ammunition to spark fire inside them? I hope not, for goodness sakes they know what is going on, they already know who they are playing and how tough the game will be. They know what BO is going to try and do. BO on the otherside knows what Hallsville is going to do and who is going to be doing it. BO isn't looking past that game. Go ahead and twist my words who fit your narrative. My narrative is and only is this:
Blair Oaks is heaving favored, as they are.
Hallsville has been playing their best ball right now.
I hope Hallsville brings the entire town to the game which they most likely will
Whatever happens, enjoy the moment as days and games like this the players will remember for many years to come (win or lose) and I am referring to both teams.
Play the game and leave it all out on the field.
Same could be said of BO when they travelled to Cardinal Ritter in the semi finals a years back. Man what a game. LB III was shut down by the great corners of BO.

So what is BO's secret other than "hard work"? Just a super desirable area to live for wealthy people? They're always head and shoulders above the rest of the states public schools(same class). How do they do that on a consistent basis?
One of those age old mysteries. Wardsville is now a town that basically only has nice houses so you probably have to have quite a bit of money to live there unless you or your family has lived there for a long time. They also magically get a number of move ins. They also have an amazing coach which helps. However, they are good at basically every sports every year which shouldn't be possible with a public school because there should be down years just based on a lack of talent. If your school always has talent and never has down years. Something fishy is going on.
They did have a down cycle it was called the 1970's 1980's and 1990's!!!!!!!
And then came Dr. Jones and Coach LePage....and the rest has been history.
It's been a good 20 year run.

Edit: Wow just noticed you had almost zero success in any boys sport prior to 2000.
Alot of factors go into it. Dr. Jones and Ted Lepage certainly was the start of it on the boys side. Sharon Buschjost with softball. Hiring great people and having a community that demands hard work of students and coaches. Some of the Asst. Coaches in all sports were/are head coach material that chose/choose to stay and be apart of the culture.
it's all about culture and blair oaks has figured it out.
Not to mention Coach Ash started the baseball run, then went on to win titles at JC and SoBo.
You can't forget about the other small towns that make up the school district. A lot of good families and athletes from Taos, Osage Bend and St. Thomas.
Hard to buy or build a house there. Almost like you have to know someone.......
Ted took a chance on a school in 2000-2001 that had never had success, and the town wasn't the thriving community it is today. Blair Oaks didn't know how to win, did not know what success felt like, and had no expectations. The town owes a lot to some of those young (at the time) administrators and coaches who also took a chance. They have churned out some great Student-Athletes over the years that went on to be great leaders in their communities because of the leadership and example they had while at BO!
