Blair Oaks vs Valle Catholic?

I would mimic that but I saw way too many jitters on both sides. I saw refs that had fans starting to complain. I saw multiple unsportsmanlike penalties showing a degrade on what usually be a highly disciplined squads.

Both teams are better after going through that game for sure. If I was Blair Oaks I would continue to lean on your defense and keep working with Dylan on his accuracies. Valle should learn that they should actually play a game away from home this season (this was their 5th straight home game). I would work on accuracies and decision making of the QB as BO intercepted him often. Lean on your playmakers and control the clock instead of constantly going tempo).

Both teams are really good but you could definitely tell this was a tune up game for both.

Agree with it wasn't the cleanest game, but it was very entertaining.

I thought BO abandoned the running game. I thought they had success early. Passing game put them in 3rd and long too often. Valle isn't going to play worrying about the clock, they are going to attack on offense. Soph QB Fallert was shaky against V's first big time opponent, but he calmed down as the game progressed. Coach Naeger is a QB coach, and Fallert has the pedigree - his uncle is early 90's Valle QB Jeremy Hoog (SWMO St) and great uncles are the Weiler brothers - QB Kevin 3X state champs, and retired coaches Bob, and Skip.

Pretty impressive for the former Class 1 champs to beat the current Class 3 #1 ranked.

I recall that the “modifier“ was going to solve the perceived ”recruiting” problem of the private schools. Seems to me that only served to amplify it. I could see that the private school football coaches might think to themselves, “Hey, if they’re gonna punish us for it (perceived recruiting) we might as well do it.” So why is anyone surprised at the sudden successes of St. Louis privates that used to be doormats?

Well, I guess they could have been a doormat for years and stayed in a lower class. Instead, they chose to WORK their buts off and EARN a chance at winning a title in C3.
Or maybe petitioned the state and volunteered to play in a larger class instead of winning all those class one trophies.

Valle needs to at least move to a competitive conference. That has been absurd for years.

The JeffCo and Mineral Area conferences for other sports are just as absurd. They need to blow it all up and start over. I hate the large school/small school divisions.

For someone that claims to not be a valle guy you sure are their number one cheerleader.

I simply enjoy watching the little guys beat the bigger guys; nothing more.

On the other hand, you seem to direct your hate at Valle. So what’s your motivation? Is it your disdain for private schools, or is it just Catholic schools?

I want everyone playing by the same rules.

I figured out you changed handles. Same schtick different name

Anyone know if Valle's was missing it's starting center for the game?
They had a ton of bad snaps.

As with everything else, you’re wrong again, Veer. I have never changed my handle/name. How’d you come up with that?

As for the rules, what rule is Valle violating?

The problem is the rules are different for private schools and you know it.
I can't give free tuition or have a booster pay for a kid 25 miles away at a public school. That's pretty handy.
A matter of time before privates are in their own class.

Well now, that’s because MO public schools hold kids captive to their districts. Meanwhile, in neighboring states like KY and AR, they have open enrollment and kids can go play at any other school as long as they get themselves there. Best part is that kids at a KY school that doesn’t offer football, including private schools and home schools, can play at schools that do have football (certain obvious restrictions apply).

As for a private FB class, be careful what you wish for. A private class would exponentially open the floodgates to massive recruiting where privates would garner the lion’s share of the talent. The talent is already migrating to privates due to their higher academic standards, thus a better chance of student-athletes qualifying for college scholarships.

You all probably understand the school districts in Jefferson County but I don't. I had cousins in Festus go to Crystal City and now Jefferson R7 opened and recruited all the kids from Crystal City to go there.
I do not agree with what the StL private schools are doing, but private schools in outlying areas like Valle and St. Vincent's do not do that. Speaking of St. Vincent's, I wonder why they are more successful? Bigger county, tradition, same names on the roster over the years, good fan base.

Vallegrad92, what would you say is the general opinion among Valle fans about the current system and Valle's placement to Class 3? Several Valle fans I know have thought for years that Valle would have had no problem with being bumped to Class 2 for the sake of fair competition.

Personally, I thought the first year of the new system that no school should be bumped up more than 1 class. But obviously, Valle is a serious threat in Class 3. Park Hills and especially Kennett will be good tests for Valle in districts. Beyond districts, as far as eastern MO teams, Lutheran North is a great unknown until they get some games under their belts. If LN is loaded with D I talent like they usually are, they could be too much for any of the eastern teams. I think this is an exceptionally strong Valle team. But over time, I expect Valle to settle in at Class 2.

BTW I'm not too sure that Jeff R-7 is doing much recruiting of Crystal City athletes, unless you're considering Crystal CIty families moving to the R-7 school district as recruiting. The opening of Jeff R-7 and Crystal City losing all those kids has killed athletics at Crystal City. I don't blame CC families for moving if they have athletic kids.

I haven't been to any games this year because of the covid thing so I don't know for sure as all my football mates are deceased and I haven't been able to talk to anyone who is really in touch.

But from some posts on FB it seems that they are seeing it as a challenge. Larger schools in class 1 with GOOD programs have always been a challenge, emphasis on good. Same with class 2 and class 3. And I am not against competition but larger schools probably don't have as many (maybe any) kids playing both ways so they can stay fresher and in the event of injuries can fill in easier. And Blair Oaks was a lot bigger, they were athletic and had about twice as many players on their roster. We won and can celebrate but that won't mean anything if they play again.

All Judd asks for is for each player to give their best and there is no shame in losing if you do your best. We are as proud of the team that lost to Hayti in 2018 as the team that won state in 2019.

Who knows what impact it will have on kids selecting V over SG? I believe V freshman class is around 40 again this year which is about the same as the sophomore class. Those 2 classes bring hope to me. Without football at Valle, the school will be doomed to extinction, so I am hoping that the class 3 designation will be seen as a positive. And I am hoping that they loosen the purse strings. Might as well if you're getting the brunt of the new rules brought on by the actions of StL schools.

Like I said, I am not familiar with the Jeff county school system other than I had cousins living in Festus who went to Crystal City. And I seriously doubt that very few if any people moved down the highway to R7. But R7 has all but killed Crystal City who now has enrollment comparable to Valle. And I enjoyed your comment about families moving to a school with better athletics if their kids were good athletes...h,mmm almost sounds like StL:)

By the way, we enjoyed the white pelicans on Kaskaskia over the weekend. A sight to behold but I wore a wide brim had and didn't look up.

R-7 housing is booming and it's school district covers a lot of area in southern Jeff Co.

May do a Kasky cruise today!! 😎 Did you have kin folk come from the island? Derousse kin of mine had settled there by 1720.

What is Valle's enrollment this year compared to years past? This new system allows for private schools to increase their enrollment by several kids if they are bumped up 2 classes. Not saying that is what Valle is doing, but them and other private schools could get more kids to come. If you win, they will come..... Who does not want to play for a winning tradition.

146 last year according to MSHSAA, that’s pretty much in line with the enrollment for the past 20 years.. after the last decade plus of success nothing has changed
