best way to block a 5 technique to get the edge

i'm not sure football talk is allowed on this site. that being said there are essentially four ways to do it. 1. reach by the OT 2. block down by the TE, slot or h back (then OT can pull around if desired) 3. influence away by pulling the OT opposite the play (assumes the 5 technique is coached to read his keys) 4. block down by the OT and read the DE on some type of option - speed, dive, dash

We used different approaches. Crack back (so fun when it was allowed to ear hole them) and pull the tackle to take out the CB, used the FB out of the backfield to attack his outside shoulder and we would trap him

#2 or #4 above is best here. Go with the angles.

If it is the kid from Lutheran North, you do not want to read him!

That's exactly who I would want to read. Attempting to block a guy like that with less than optimal size linemen is just foolish. Of course, my other way of getting the edge on him is to go to the opposite edge.

We tried not blocking the end a lot this year...never seemed to work. Unfortunately we weren’t reading him either!

Hey, anyone who can get opposing defenders to block their own teammates as part of the scheme has my attention.

Still think there has to be a Jedi mind trick or voodoo involved.

...not that I’d be above utilizing such methods if it meant a win, of course.

Hey - you run the double wing misdirection - you may get a defender to block his own guy out of Confusion - if you ever watch the East Newton teams of Larry Bunn's tenure- that could have happened, there was no clue where the ball was going.
