Attendance at Games

I don't really get why it's become such a lightning rod either. Like most things these days it's become political which means all logic is tossed and a person is required to be one extreme or the other...masks are an absolute necessity and everyone must adhere or they are evil OR masks themselves are evil.

Some people reject them because of pride and being told what to do. Some people think it's a conspiracy to groom the public for control. Some people reject them because they genuinely believe it's pointless. For some it's not wanting to stand out as the weird paranoid person. In some cases it's just a matter of taking a personal risk because it's impractical or unenjoyable to try to wear a mask doing that particular activity. Other cases it might be because one aspect of the activity effectively undoes the whatever safety was gained by using a mask at other points in the activity.

Someone please explain to Bullit that the mask isn’t really to protect the wearer. It is to keep your spit from becoming a covid projectile onto your neighbors. You can touch your mask in Walmart until the cows come home and it will still keep you from infecting everyone in your path. This has been said over and over.

And you'll still have people argue this.

If anything has been made clear out of all of this, science has lost in 2020.............

I feel the same way about mask I will wear one when asked, and if I feel comfortable enough around some I won't. It entirely depends on each situation.
However I actually got into a discussion not an argument about mask with somebody who just says they don't work and he made some compelling points.
He said watch people going into a store and most will just pull a mask out of their pocket and slap it on, and when they come out after being in the store and touching all the products doors credit cards carts and things watch them take it off and slap the thing right back into their pocket. They might do that several times a day he said so do you think they are protected from all the things their hands picked up and transferred to that mask? It did make me stop and think because now I watch teachers and coaches whoever pull a mask out of their pockets....He said your keys are in there no telling what you are picking up.... But like he said before doctors will put on a mask they will scrub their hands for for a certain amount of time and people help them put all that stuff on. He said sure in some cases close contact mask could help others but you could also be making yourself sick if you don't do it right. But if people don't know how to properly clean their hands before removing or putting them on or how to properly store them, they could have a sense of being better protected wearing them while not realizing they are cross contaminating and setting themselves up for actually getting sick or covid. So think about it when you watch people at the games were mask are required, you will see them put one in a pocket while touching the railing and all sorts of other things. Can you imagine what could be on that mask by the end of the night? Just made me think about how I should handle my mask and health.

In my immediate family there are two doctors, a dental assistant and four RNs. At a recent family get together, a professional discussion about masks took place. Now I am not nearly as smart or educated as those folks about medical things but I am attuned to the concept of cross contamination and therefore I listened with interest to their conversation. Since then I have been people watching from my truck while the little cook does the grocery shopping or grabs things from Walmart. If it was not so serious, the things I've witnessed would be downright hilarious. I won't bore you by describing all of the crazy things I've seen. Hopefully, the first thing they teach at school is proper mask usage (including new mask or laundered mask each day) and the concept of cross contamination.

First Moscow, not my fight. I wear my mask. It was just interesting what he was saying, Again it was a discussion not argument and no insults... something seems to be lost on you. Oh and it was a Biden supporter, so take politics out of it LOL.

If “little Johnny “ Wasn’t out on the field you wouldn’t have a game to watch. Parents should come first!

Exactly... they tell you not to touch your face but yet you stick a mask that was in your pocket on your face before you go into the local dollar store and again if you watch people you sort of laugh at it. He sort of made a point about how people were wearing them, I know it is about protecting others not you, but what about your family when you go home at night if you bring it home? At last weeks game I don't know how many people I saw drop mask on accident on the floor and then pick them up, then later put them on their face. hygiene people LOL, I guess don't touch your face because you can infect yourself goes out the window with masks.

I wonder what they are going to do about the thousands of people standing shoulder to shoulder outside of the fence ???
No idea, I suspect they will just let it go as long as there aren't conflicts or other issues. I guarantee there will be a lot because Junge is one of those venues with a decent view from the perimeter fence especially the north side. You don't even have to leave your vehicle if you manage get street parking in the right spot.

This is the stuff I struggle with. Went to Tanger in Branson. 50ish people standing in line to get in a store that is limiting customers. No mask mandate outside. Those people not moving around, standing next to each other. All things that INCREASE exposure. Inside the store, 20ish people with masks all moving around and shopping. Odd times.

The store is doing what they can to try and protect their employees, if the people in line outside had any sense or cared about one another they would wear them there too. I think outside the store though, that would be something the city would need to enforce.

That is what I've seen many times. A place will 'close' their space and push the problem into a nearby space they are not responsible for. I don't really know what difference it makes for the employees because they are still interacting with all the same people. They are just waiting slightly further away but still crowded together. So it's not really helping anyone.

This has always made me laugh a little. Out of all of the things to be outraged over, the mask has really been a lightning rod. I don't get it. There is zero debate that it helps to an extent from somebody carrying the virus and spreading it. It's not full proof, nothing is. The arguments against them are pretty uneducated.

We've become a pretty selfish, lazy and downright disrespectful society. It's really disappointing honestly.

Anyway, just my two pennies.
it’s kind of strange that Up until the first of April that the US Surgeon General, the head of the CDC, and the FDA all said that the use of face masks by the general public were a waste of time and there was no scientific evidence to support people wearing one ( my doctor last week explained to me how an ill fitting mask actually increased the velocity of air moving in and out of the mask through gaps which made it easier for Covid creatures to be carried by the air stream into your lungs)

What scientific peer reviewed studies have been released in the last 3 months that changed policy?

Sooooo after the first week and a half of dealing with an unknown virus they changed their opinion?

I'd see a new doctor....

I don't know but the fact that the CDC initially said don't use masks and then changed their tune is a large part of why some people reject them now. Personally I believe the initial recommendation to NOT use them was a deliberate lie to prevent a run on supplies that would distrupt PPE availability to front line workers. Either way it undermines the credibility of the authorities.

Until covid I personally think it was generally regarded as common sense that a mask would reduce (not eliminate) the risk a sick person poses to others.

They have pretty much admitted it was a lie to stop the run on masks.

So exactly when should you believe them?
